Topics regarding layoffs at Bank of New York Mellon Corp.

Every day shaking my head in disbelief

The irony is that Mellon was not happy with a colleague who was “not good enough” for them only to later replace him with a student from an average university with whom they are somehow still “satisfied”. Rarely does anything still make sense here... — read more

This is more of a you issue

Stop blaming the bank for being miserable at work. You're an adult perfectly capable of making his or her own decisions. If you can't handle working here for whatever reason, find another job and move on. There's no shame in taking a pay cut if it'll... — read more

BNY is fcked

Good luck folks, BNY is dead. Cutting costs is only way to help bottom line. Every other bank has left custody business so it is now a government job without a pension.

Jobs

If you left or are leaving, what positions are you going to or see? If you left are workout remotely and making more money. All BNY has is a good 401k plan and PTO compared to the market. Do you see this as well with where you are applying or... — read more

Thoughts on work shifted to India

Curious to know everyone’s experience because with what I’ve seen , unless it’s black and white they cannot handle what’s being sent to them and yet nobody higher seems to huge a cr-p. Yet all the cleanup falls on everyone here in the states . — read more

What's with all the pics on MSS and in the newsletters with people not social distancing or wearing masks? Prepping us for RTO?

More people leaving

We’re losing more people with tenure and experience and upper management isn’t doing anything to keep these people or take off some of the stress and added workload causing them to leave. This is getting out of control now

PAC THIS

Just got final reminder to support ‘Employ Funded PAC’. Let me crack open the piggy 🐷 bank🤣

Class action lawsuit?

Does anyone know of any claw action lawsuits against the bank for laying off the oldest and sickest workers ?

What are the alternatives?

There are many reasons to leave, however, for those who are leaving because of the mandate, I am really interested in what they intend to do and where they will work? I don’t even know where I would go in case I was scared to get a vax.

Bonus eligible if leaving before February

I'm leaving shortly and I have always been bonus eligible. I assumed that if I left a day before the 2021 bonuses were paid in February, I would be eligible for absolutely nothing. After signing that 30 day notification attestation a few backs, the... — read more

Layoffs next week

I doubt we'll have layoffs during the Thanksgiving week or this late in the week, but if the rumors of November layoffs are true that leaves next week for something to happen. Can anybody confirm that something is (or hopefully isn't) coming? I'd... — read more

They don’t care about anything but getting to their goal

I don’t really care about the Bank now. I was upset they let me go, but it all worked out great for me and I’m in a much better position now. I do care about my coworkers some of which would not be so lucky if they left, and who the company actively... — read more

Clueless

Employees are leaving because the bank's competitors are offering higher wages, career advancement opportunities and more flexibility. Yet rather than incentivizing employees to stay, BNYM is threatening to withhold bonuses and / or terminate... — read more

I'm thinking of leaving

I would've left even before, but this time I do not want to accept an offer that does not suit me completely. I don’t see BNY Mellon doing anything to keep people. These are all cosmetic moves that don't mean much to anyone. At my age, I wish I... — read more

Wrong direction!?

Why do many here think that BNYM is heading in the wrong direction? I don't like the situation as it is here now, but many pretend to be great, insightful visionaries and experts who know that Mellon is on the wrong track... It's a bit pathetic... — read more

Raises?

Maybe this was a dream but are raises, such as they will be, effective January 1 or still July 1? Somehow I remember hearing it was changing?

Wow, that's some Agreement that has to be signed

For those who plan on leaving before bonuses get paid out in February, what are your thoughts on signing that agreement document? I seriously doubt BNYM will mail checks to terminated employees, so I expect not to be eligible once notice is given.

are they going to be cr-p again this year? will it be slightly better since so many people quit and opened up the pool (wishful thinking ik) ? that great resignation will come even harder come 2022 if they don't compensate us well.

I am glad that my dearest colleagues did not choose to leave, but at the same time I am very sorry for those whom I know have decided to leave even though they have no plan. And there are not just a few of them. I hope that everyone will succeed... — read more

I'm throwing in the towel as well

Employer mandated vaccinations are hurting big business

Just look at what's going on with Southwest and American Airlines. Do you really think the disruptions are just because of weather and technical issues? Is BNYM really willing to risk millions of $$$ in business disruptions over a vaccine mandate?... — read more

1000$ pay cut for all!

They are discontinuing the 600$ contribution (1200 for you and spouse) which may not seem like a lot BUT for many that extra money would help out with your deductible. That’s a big deal and I hope someone questions it during the town hall tomorrow. — read more
