How long do you have to be in your current position before you can apply internally again?

Been with the company for 5 year, first 4 1/2 years in the same role. Applied internally for another role and got the job 6 months ago. I see another role that I think is a better fit for me, am I allowed to apply or do I need to stay longer at my current role?

$100/bo wti… looking for a new job?

Survivors, how many of you are interviewing and applying somewhere else to take advantage of the higher commodity price. My guess is 50% or more of the company is at this point.

A lot of other companies are hiring and I don’t believe the “transformation is complete” narrative.

Any thoughts on this from the audience?

What platforms work, if any?

I've been applying for months through the big job boards and getting almost nothing back. No calls, no interviews, nothing. For those of you who've been laid off and managed to find something, which platforms actually worked for you? I need to change my approach.

Job listings are absolutely insane now

I've been casually looking at job boards and I'm mildly put shocked by what I'm seeing. One posting today wanted a single person to run their social media, manage their email marketing, analyze campaign data, handle customer support tickets, train new hires, and manage a small team. That's at least three different jobs. Plus they wanted five years of experience in each area. Plus a degree. Plus full time in office. The salary range was $65k to $75k. Are companies actually finding people willing to do all of this, or are they just posting fantasy descriptions and wondering why they can't fill them? Anyone else noticing this inflation of expectations?

Move on if you can, it'll make all the difference

I was in a rut at Ford. Not unhappy enough to leave, not happy enough to stay. I was basically stuck. Then I hit a wall and realized I couldn't do it anymore. The day I walked out, I felt lighter than I had in years. My new role has its own problems, but I don't dread Monday mornings anymore. It comes down to whether you put life before work or the other way around.

I'm losing my mind over fake job postings

I've been unemployed since Cisco showed me the door in the last round and I'm starting to question everything. I see job postings everywhere, but I'm not sure any of them are real. I apply to five or six a day. I've done this for months. I've gotten maybe a handful of responses, all rejections. And every rejection is the same generic form letter. No feedback, no explanation, nothing that could help me improve. Just sorry, moving on with other candidates. If they're not actually hiring, just tell us. If I'm doing something wrong, tell me what it is. The silence and the mystery are making me crazy.

Senior talent taking junior roles

We brought someone onto my team last month who used to be a senior manager at a major tech firm. Over a decade of management experience. Two decades total in the industry. He's now an individual contributor at a mid level role. It really shows how quickly a career you spent years building can evaporate.

Challenger: April Layoffs See Sharp Rise

U.S. employers announced 83,387 job cuts in April, a 38% increase from March. This total marks the third highest for April since 2009. Technology companies led all industries in layoff announcements, often citing AI spending as a reason. Artificial Intelligence was the top reason for job cuts for the second consecutive month. Overall hiring plans decreased significantly in April.

Just moved into new role as a fresh engineer and disliking the role/team

Background, fairly new engineer less than 3 YOE and im on a new team (not by choice) and the team is not what I was expecting it to be. This role/work is better suited for someone with more experience. I want to leave this team already and advice on this

Made a mistake joining

My last job was incredibly boring but stable. Bonuses every year, clear processes, you know how it goes. I got an offer from Ford two years ago and I thought it would be a great challenge to break the monotony. Now I'm stuck at a place where nobody knows what anyone else is doing. I miss boring.

Why hire people that are going to leave in a few years?

Don’t get me wrong I’m all for hiring ambitious people. But why when someone screams “I’m using this as a stepping stone” do you hire them? You do realise your stakeholders internally have to tolerate their mediocre work, slow deliverables and lack of knowledge. What is even worse is when as a leader you reward their behaviour and enable them. Then they leave. Great use of everyone’s time and efforts…

Where are people actually landing jobs right now?

I'm stuck in a miserable team and every day is a struggle. Bills keep me at SAS but I'm desperately looking. Been grinding on LinkedIn, company career pages, reworking my resume for hours on end. Still nothing but rejections. What platforms are actually working for people? I'm exhausted.

It's so hard getting a job these days

Remember when you'd apply and actually hear back? Not anymore. Now all I get is silence. And most of the jobs on LinkedIn aren't even real. They're phantom postings that go nowhere. The only way I see people actually getting hired is through networking. Someone knows someone who knows someone. That's it. The economy is really bad and the old methods don't work anymore.

Pennsylvania Region Sees Job Reductions

Southeastern Pennsylvania saw a significant increase in job eliminations. Companies removed 2,800 positions during the initial three months. The number of businesses making cuts was lower. However, these fewer entities caused greater overall job losses. This indicates a concentrated impact on the workforce.

It Is For Real

The Land Of Dots job cartel is for real.

I read about it here and elsewhere and thought, Ha, No.

I've seen multiple promotions and none of them make any sense.

Job Level 7 promotion to Squad Leader. She can't function in Excel, and got promoted from Level 4 to a Level 7 in less than 5 years.

Been here just under a year

Every week my job drifts a little further from what I was actually hired to do. At this point I’m basically in a completely different role, and nobody’s said a word about it. No conversation, no training, no change to my title or pay. I’ve brought it up, and nothing changes. What even is this place?
