United Way Faces Financial Strain
The United Way of Central Maryland is experiencing a significant financial deficit of approximately $3 million. This shortfall has led to the layoff of 20 employees, representing 11% of its staff. The organization is also behind on distributing promised grant payments to local nonprofits. These delays are attributed to cash flow challenges and reduced pandemic-era funding. I'm at my breaking point. We're constantly losing people, never getting replacements, and the work just keeps coming. It's starting to feel hopeless that things are ever going to improve.

LinkedIn habitants
If you want to know who to let go first, just scan your team’s LinkedIn activity. The ones with zero meaningful deliverables yet constantly posting generic AI-generated slope are telling you everything you need to know. They’re not building value; they’re performing visibility. Cut them.

Any word on the scope of the cuts happening this week?
Verizon pay cuts?
As we all know, the job market su-ks. If Verizon's objective is to get rid of the high paid workers, at some point will they just ask us to take a pay cut to keep our jobs. I know this will be an unpopular post, but its better to pay my bills at a lower salary than to get laid off and get nothing. Would you take say a 15% paycut?
More cuts next week?

Winfrey Email Today
RAP going away sounds like generic cost cutting to me. But losing all of your vacation at the end of the calendar year just means it’s far cheaper to lay people off in Q1 2027.
Layoff reports
I’ve seen reports of layoffs. Do you know which teams are affected?
October 2
I understand October 2 is the last day for sales reps if they didn’t get a territory, if I have that right. Other than that what is the significance of October 2 for this company? What is the purpose of October 2, why not finish the year out? Thanksgiving and Christmas would be so close. That doesn’t even make sense!!
Is it a $ thing? Seems like there wouldn’t be enough people to work!! Who’s going to work all this? There’s only SO MUCH one person can do!!
