For those of us who fondly recall working for the most respected company on the planet in the 70s and 80s I think this sad video speaks for itself. This is the destruction of IBM Endicott campus which was a crown jewel of IBM founder and CEO Thomas J Watson for 42 years. He cared DEEPLY about IBMers and had engineers paint buildings rather than lay them off in hard times. Building after building and campus after campus all being bull dozed like this as perhaps the largest and longest RIF reduction in force has been going on since Gerstner came in 93. Since then there has been some recoveries but every IBMer (most from acquisitions now) put their head on the pillow every night wondering if I am next for the RIF or PIP the new trick performance improvement plan to avoid severance. In these building shards generations of IBMers were the best of the best.

There’s been a lot of predictions on here about more rounds. Anyone got any real intel? It appeared the layoff impacted certain teams a lot more than others. It would make sense that the teams that were spared last time will be next in the firing line. Before Christmas and bonuses? How did they decide which teams were impacted more than others?

We were told today that if they don't get enough volunteers for strike relief that management will do a mandatory selection. How is it that they can tell non-union employees that they have to travel and work outside of their home state and cross union lines. Is management within their right to fire employees if they don't volunteer. There is even talk of volunteers being shielded from an upcoming RIF. This all just sounds a little too nuts to be true, doesn't it?

I was rif last year - no complaints about my package - about the only thing that went smooth (I talked to an hr contact based in the U.S. - they exist!)

Contacted out of the blue by a legal group regarding discrimination in i.t., but no clue how they got my information. Has anybody else been contacted?

So the meeting today in Bedminster was with many managers and other higher ups. The layoff rumors appear to be true, if anything this may just be like some other past RIFs. You get noticed then you have "X" amount of time to check for another position. Not surprised, we arent making money and they need to cut

I’m among those who expected nothing less from the new CEO, but cuts of 6% or more are a truly depressing number.

Not trying to sound alarmist, but after the recent RIF, it’s fair to say things feel uncertain right now. Seeing cuts happen after H1 is definitely out of the ordinary, and if performance targets don’t hit the mark, this could become a pattern. Even if that’s not the case, April isn’t as far away as it seems.

The reality is that nobody ever thinks it’ll happen to them until it does. Staying ready — keeping your resume and LinkedIn current — is just smart practice. It’s not about doom and gloom; it’s about being prepared in case the winds shift again.

The never ending…

I’m remote, and honestly terrified we’ll be among the first on the chopping block. If anyone has credible information, please share. There are so many rumors flying around - mass layoffs, HQ-only cuts, even a possible private equity acquisition. It’s hard to tell what’s real, and even harder not to expect something bigger lurking around the corner that could hit us all hard.

Today, my manager informed me that I’m part of the next round of actions, as my role is affected by the organizational health measures set by McKinsey. My team is being reassigned to different functional lines, and my manager mentioned that the RIF notification date is scheduled for 11/19. It appears that McKinsey’s recommendations are driving how our business is structured and managed, with decisions being made based on a set of data rather than the real work being done.

New wave coming and I will have the option to move to atl or dal. It’s going to affect about 200 of my peers.

RIF happened today in MI, stated it was due to Marketplace loss

The day after the announcement of a new CEO. Lots of open jobs postings disappeared from the jobs board. This trend always precedes RIFs.

Dan is there to be the hatchet before the Frontier merger is complete. This way John Stratton doesn’t have to do the dirty work and ruin his image.

I just spoke to my PGL and she said layoffs are about to start at JRC. Many people let go. A few areas will close. She couldn't say who in my area but there will be alot. She left and went to a finalization meeting.

Large scale RIF's coming this month! There is a memo currently doing the rounds with management, looking for additional departmental cuts. They initally are looking to trim the fat. Like before Attendance, time keeping, performance, etc.
Elliott Investment Management are undertaking large scale cost-cutting imitative along with other cost saving and restructuring initiatives. The RIF's will begin this month and continue through to 2026.
Elliott are planning to undertake a number of acquisitions of specific medical device companies, with the end goal being to transfer products to more competitive countries. Keep watching this space, for the types of companies bought and country they are situated in. This will give a good indication as to which facilities are for the block.

Anyone feeling comfortable sharing what org and group they were just laid off from? 😬😬 They’ve really done a number on Deal Managers, Deal Specialists, SalesHelp, Deal Desk in the last couple years, but the last two rounds of layoffs I’m shocked at…there was already so little headcount with all that work being rolled into one. Have been shocked to see some of the names that were axed. Really sad.

The question is, who is left to rif? Any news on rif calls going out week after next which will be a non-paycheck week? Or will they continue to make up more ridiculous work requirements to get the rest of us to quit or retire earlier than planned?

I can confirm there were layoffs well beyond TA, as I was part of group more than 110 research support staff that were unceremoniously informed that it was their last day at Gartner and given less than 24 hours to download their paystubs and say their goodbye to their colleagues. It was truly a brutal and emotionally devastating experience.

I can confirm two more people left Lima and one more left Calgary this week. Two more also left Toledo although I can’t confirm whether it was voluntary or involuntary.

A CU leader just blurted out “there’s another round of cuts coming [2025Q4]”. Other NYP leaders have mentioned gaps that need to be closed.

What’s the official word? Personnel are going to impacted? Focusing on OTPS only?

I work in the BU in Dallas and last week we had hundreds of people laid off but I haven’t seen any exact numbers or big news outlets talking about this at all… I feel like this was a very dramatic cut but I’m confused why the media isn’t talking about that and instead they’re talking about the much smaller December layoffs…

Seems like there is still speculation around a VSP, not surprising given the age demographic of the RIFed employees (mostly under age 60?). Anyone hear anything, or is this wishful thinking?

What info does anyone have regarding RIFs in the upcoming months?

I can confirm a method to see if your role is impacted in an imminent RIF: Go to your HCM Service Apps > Personal Info > My Compensation and look at your "Effective Period."
If it has changed from "Ongoing" to a specific future date (a week or 5 days from now), that is very likely your termination date. This is exactly what happened to a colleague who was just laid off.
Has anyone else verified this? It seems to be a reliable early signal.
