Formal Warning

Coworker was upset that her boss was escalating an informal warning she received last month to a formal warning. I asked her if that’s a PIP and she said she was told that there are no PIP’s. Is this true? Is she sc--wed? She said her manager told her to meet with her more frequently to discuss anything. She said manager seems to be supportive of legitimately helping and actually wanted her to take over some work from another coworker.

Seems to me that this may be their due diligence to letting her go, but why have her take over more work if they want to let her go?

Always be prepared

It really doesn't matter when the next round is going to happen. How many times have we already experienced layoffs being dropped on us without any communication or warning that they might happen? Leadership has proven to us many times over the past couple of years that they couldn't care less about their employees, and they've been treating us accordingly - as the first line of any cuts they might need at any given moment.

Be warned, have a witness, record conversations

Monitors for efficiency are back on property, all supervisors have been instructed to conduct more camera ops testing, and violate agreements if need be under the guise of insubordination. Any refusal will result in automatic being pulled from service pending investigation, senior employees have already been pre warned, and instructed that even good faith challenges will result in being pulled from service, with conduct becoming the leading charge, rather than the task being challenged.

Huntington Mayor Warns of Layoffs Without Levy Passage

Huntington's Mayor issued a public warning. The warning concerns potential city layoffs. These layoffs would happen if a proposed levy does not pass. The article does not specify the number of jobs at risk. It also does not detail the specific levy.

There’s trouble coming

When Ford issues press releases like this and the Freep publishes them as “news” and doesn’t put them behind the paywall something bad is brewing. When Ford is sending out all kinds of happy press releases it’s a warning sign.

I hope everybody is looking for a new job

We all know major cuts are coming, the only question is when. It's much easier to find a new job when you're already employed. And trust me, the job market is so bad right now that you don't want to be stuck looking for a job while unemployed with so many others in our field already out of work and looking.

IP Address Tracking is now live for RTO

Just an FYI. Our division head was told Friday, IP address tracking and log in times are now being used to cross check FULL days in office. The reporting has always been around, senior management is now reviewing on a monthly basis.
There is discussion regarding adding a dropdown when logging in as well. Attesting when you are logging in, In Office or Remote.

I’ve never worked at a place where they put this much effort into trying to punish employees.

Do not trust fellows

After leaving Chevron, I learned the hard way that you really need to be careful about who you trust. Even people who seem very supportive, offering to help with your resume, connect you to Society of Petroleum Engineers committees, review papers, or ask about your job search may not always have your best interests in mind.

Please protect your information. Don’t share detailed resumes, job search updates, new company plans, or paper drafts unless you fully trust the person and understand why they need that information. Keep things professional and limited.

The AI wave is coming!

Teams that have not begun deploying practical AI solutions for workflow automation, decision support, or cost optimization should expect increasing pressure to do so. Enterprise trends show AI initiatives are quickly shifting from optional innovation projects to core operational expectations tied to efficiency and budget discipline.

Waiting too long typically reduces a team’s ability to influence how AI is implemented. Instead of shaping use cases that fit their processes, they risk having centrally mandated tools introduced on compressed timelines.

Although current AI intake and governance processes may feel slow or overly complex, that friction is temporary. As organizations pursue measurable productivity improvements, broader and more standardized AI deployment is likely approaching. You have been warned!

RSUs for Riffed Employees

I have been carefully watching the status of RSUs due to being riffed. I have a screen shot of RSU units and estimated value at that time. The severance FAQ document Q.33 indicates that RSUs granted in 2023, 2024 and 2025 will pay out at their vested rate in 60-90 days after severance.

WARNING: What is not stated .... is that all your RSU's will be frozen at stock value as of 12/19/2025 (last day of employment). Meaning -- what is distributed (arbitrarily and in the last few weeks) is now where near the estimated vested rate per Fidelty in November or December.
