JB sent an email earlier this morning notifying folks that Shelby and SD1 are the latest Nike DCs to close. Another victim of outsourcing, these sites are closing in favor of a DHL run 3PL outside of Atlanta that will be activated in May/June 2027.

Sardine Offices While Hantavirus Arrives in Atlanta. What Could Go Wrong?
Three people are dead from a hantavirus outbreak on a cruise ship. Two infected patients are now in biocontainment at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. Georgia residents who were already in the community after exposure are being monitored.
Officials say "no risk to the public."
We heard that before. In 2020. About something that ki-led millions.
Now look at where AT&T is forcing its employees to sit. Five days a week. No assigned seats. No dividers. No open air. Two feet between people in a sealed office with recirculated air. Badge tracked. Hour monitored. No flexibility. No exceptions.
This is what "market-based culture" looks like when a pathogen arrives in your city.
The Andes strain of hantavirus.... the one behind this outbreak.... is the only strain known to spread human to human. Scientists are still investigating exactly how it spread among cruise ship passengers in close quarters.
Close quarters. Recirculated air. No dividers. Sound familiar?
We've seen this movie before. We know how it ends. Take care of yourself.
Trying to hide the mass move to India???
I found this article on LinkedIn -
Nike is undergoing a massive operational reset. In a move that signals a significant shift in corporate strategy, the sportswear giant is consolidating its global technology functions back to its Portland headquarters.
The Shift: Just two years ago, the strategy focused on expansion in hubs like Atlanta for #Al and #Cybersecurity.
Today, the focus has shifted to simplification. By closing tech offices in #Atlanta, #China, and #Poland, Nike is aiming to strip away organizational layers and align its tech talent more closely with core business priorities.
The Context:
Job Cuts: Part of a broader restructuring expected to eliminate ~1,400 roles.
Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) Reassessment: As growth in digital retail moderates, Nike is
No mention of all the jobs they cut in tech in the US getting reposted to rehire in India
Layoffs on April
Not much highlighted here, but there was a series of layoffs among engineers and product owners in Atlanta in mid-April
Campus expansion in Frisco
Contacts in corporate real estate tell me that due to the cost of doing business in Bellevue the Bellevue campus will begin consolidating and moving operations to Frisco. The goal is to be significantly moved out of Bellevue by 2030. Same for Overland Park with all of the changes due to the Kansas City Royal stadium. Atlanta will be reduced significantly if not closed completely much sooner.
Sounds like Frisco is gonna grow significantly.
Every position I applied to has been canceled. Have there been layoffs in the Atlanta area?
I keep getting job cancellation emails from this place for most/all positions I applied for! What's going on in the Atlanta office? Has anyone new joined this year?

Is there any hiring going on at T-Mobile right now?
I’ve been job hunting for the last 6 months and nothing solid has materialized. Even contracts are scarce in Atlanta for the dev market.
I’m looking for a job and I know there’s been cuts and more work on the employees but I don’t care because I’m desperate. I’m very close to considering the end of everything after 39 years on this miserable rock 🪨
Relocated to Dallas from Atlanta(Lenox Park)
In 05/2025 and was just let go. 10 months later. Thank God the family stayed in Georgia. I lived in a rat trap for the past 9 months to save a few bucks and protect against uprooting my entire family. VP kept asking me when's the family moving out? Packing up the car this weekend and heading home. Ingot problems and will have trouble finding something but thank god I didn't put my family through that.
Georgia Faces Additional Layoffs Amid Falling Federal Employment
Employers announced over 1,200 layoffs in Georgia during February. Nationally, 92,000 jobs were lost across the U.S. that month. Georgia has seen 3,027 total layoffs announced in 2026 so far. Home Depot eliminated nearly 800 jobs in Atlanta. This represents a 106 percent increase from early 2025 layoffs.

Where and how we work 9 core hubs
I stumbled across an HR site when looking for surplus information that stated the nine core hubs at AT&T has planned.
Dallas/Plano
Atlanta
El Segundo, California
San Ramon, California
Bothell, Washington
Middleton, New Jersey
Bedminster, New Jersey
Washington DC
St. Louis, Missouri
I was doing a search on the on the one stop site and it was a frequently asked questions about where and how we work.
It also stated the core locations are long-term strategy of where we work.
Also stated that they will be closing locations as a consolidate over the next two years.
Take that info and face value because you know that could change!

Saks and Neiman’s located in close proximity
I believe eventually either Saks or Neiman’s will close stores which are located near each other. Atlanta, Chicago, Beverly Hills, Tyson’s corner, and Bal harbor come to mind. It seems like this will be the next logical move. Whichever of the two has lower profits and higher expenses will be closed.
Those who think WFH is the way forward...
No, major companies are not shifting towards greater WFH options/number of days. Home Depot is the latest major employer to confirm this.
"...On Wednesday, the Atlanta-based company confirmed to media outlets that it would lay off 800 staff and make corporate employees return to the office for five days per week in the interests of “in-person engagement..."
Just a thought
I don’t think Truist has enough office space to fit everyone. I traveled at a few of their office locations(ATL, CLT, Raleigh/Greensboro). It doesn’t look like there is enough room. Especially in the Charlotte office and the new Battery location.

Is there talk of shutting down the Ravinia office in Atlanta?
I have this feeling I’m not long for my current position anymore if that happens. I work under John Blanchards org and we just had a layoff in August. I think I’m being paranoid but since Srini is taking over soon… I just don’t know. The market is brutal now and I’m job hugging like a motherf----r, I’m not ready to leave yet.
Has any C-Level exec ever been to the Atlanta office?
