Layoffs are happening

Layoffs are happening, quietly, here and there. I've seen a few people being let go just during the summer months. They will continue happening until 2030. You either find another job or make peace with the possibility of being laid off and collecting severance check. That's Cargill now days, pretty toxic!

Bumping this from @2es+1k33rmqyn for info.

Boxes for equipment/donations/Wellsware showed up. How long now?

Large cardboard boxes and some carts showed up this week at the Barnhart Call Center location in Hillsboro, OR. They have signs posted over the boxes designating each for e-waste, company equipment, donations of personal items, Wellsware, etc. They are set up in multiple hallways. This leads me to some questions:

1 - How long do we have until our 60-days notice now that these boxes have shown up? In that past when we had a remodel or reorganization of seating plan they showed up over a month beforehand.

2 - What do I do with the 2 company provided monitors I have at home? I take public transit to get to the office most of the time and taking them with me to the office for turn-in would be nearly impossible. I have to walk over a mile from the station to the office and there's no way I'm carrying them that distance.

3 - Do I have to ship my laptop back? Is there a way I can hand it over in-office?

4 - Should I start bringing my personal items from my cubicle home now? Will they ship those to us? If I get 60 days non-working notice will I still have access to the building to retrieve them? In the past when they terminated someone, 2 people were assigned to box up the personal items and they were shipped to them.

Thank you all in advance for sharing your advice and experiences

Return to Office - Unofficial Layoff

They have started the next round of layoffs without having to pay severance. They are cherry picking which employees are allowed to remain remote and those that need to report to either Lake Mary or Pittsburgh. Failure to relocate is considered voluntary termination / resignation by the Work Together policy. It doesn't matter if you were previously approved to work in remote location... The worst is inconsistent enforcement. Many people on team remote - only certain individuals given mandate to relocate. It should be illegal to consider it voluntary termination. If you are going to layoff someone do so.

RSUs

I cannot find the thread this was being discussed on but there is some confusion about whether vesting stops at the notification date or the termination date. So I asked HR directly. At least in the US, we will get any RSUs that vest prior to the termination date (in my case 9/22). If you are in a different location you may want to confirm with HR.

I was in the Fusion Org and would have hit my 25 year anniversary next month. Overall my immediate team lost about a 1/3 of its headcount.

Finally take care of yourselves. Oracle itself had its goods and bads like most things, but I was truly fortunate to work with some amazing people for this long. Remember that EAP benefits are still there (for 3 months) if you need them.

I was part of RIF in 11/2024, notified on 9/2024, was i entitled to bonus that year?

Title, I signed the severance package, but I totally disregarded the fact that I worked towards AR that year, am i entitled to that pro-rated bonus?

Was talking to a current co-worker of where I work now, and he mentioned that Teradata was like this and so was his previous company (although hes going through it with an employee lawyer since they didn't pay him).

TIA.

I'm not even stressing anymore

Let’s be honest, who here wouldn’t be better off working somewhere, anywhere else? The job market is scary right now, but that’s what severance is for. Being unemployed and looking isn’t as scary when you have enough money to get you through several months. Thinking like this has completely shifted my perspective on layoffs.

Recent College Grad Afraid of Layoffs

Hi all. I would appreciate helpful and constructive criticism, not bullying as I have seen in some posts here. We can all remain civil while being in disagreement.

I worry about layoffs and this is my first corporate job. Does Charles Schwab always provide severance when someone is let go? What does that amount look like? Please feel free to provide your professional feedback as I am always looking for ways to grow.

Lumpsum only?

Does Dell do rolled over paychecks or only lumpsum?

I’m trying to know if I can extend my unemployment days for Visa reasons.

No one asked but I’m actually relieved from the WFR, I have been preparing for a few months and now I get to get the big fat Sev package so thats sweet

Here We Go Again ORCL - Thanks But No Thanks - My Hard Work After 30 Years Of Excellent Service Record

Surprise Surprise Surprise today. Early morning call from manager & September 22,2025 made as my last day. YAP! came out of blue. But, no regret. Started as a rookie. Oracle got me on H1, processed my Green Card. Seen all in 30 years of service how this Company behaves & works! & where the dead bodies buried. Oh! if you are wondering what gigs I did. Started as onsite ACS Engineer when the org was just starting, moved to DB Sustaining, back to Exadata DEV / BDE / support. Last 8 years in Oracle Sustaining & DEV. Best part of the journey at Oracle - I worked from home. Time to polish my resume & take this 100 years+ experience to another great company soon!

Good Luck

No matter what happens tomorrow (September 3rd), please know that your value is not defined by your job. Be kind to yourself if you are given a severance package, and still be kind to yourself if you remain at FIS.

Rarely does anyone choose to be laid off. We work with so many talented individuals at FIS, who do the right thing for our clients and their customers every day. Good luck!

September 15th

Next surplus announcement date per contract for CWA/Leg T workers is September 15th. Of course many of us are hoping to be declared surplus to get the termination package up to 104 weeks pay for those of us with over 31 years service. We all know our job tasks are being automated and/or offshored thus we'll eventually be laid off - and we're simply hanging out happily waiting for the awesome 2 year paid vacation, hoping not to lose this in our next labor contract next year.

Layoff Process

I've heard that the layoff process canbe brutal. Can anyone shed some light on what ctyally happens on layoff day? (Looking for answers, not drama from some troll.) How long do you have to sign the separation papers? Is it before you leave the room or do you have some time before you HAVE to sign?

Running on empty

Half our group is gone and the work never slowed down. We’re all scrambling to keep up, but there’s only so much we can cover. It's like IBM is intentionally trying to wear us down. I guess if we quit they don't have to pay us severance during the next RA, so it kind of makes sense.
