That is what chatGPT told me. Ansys never had a mass layoff but Synopsys did a few times in the last a few year. The merge was good initially if you sold all of your Stocks a few days after the merge. Otherwise, you lost 30% minimal.

Ansys was a great company to work for. I didn't get that same impression from Synopsys, but I guess that comes with working for a much larger company. It was a good 5 years.

Wonder how much more bad news is out there now that Rick is out. Doesn’t instill confidence and I wish that we at Ansys were not acquired. I suspect the initial set of layoffs will happen tomorrow now that we have an all hands call tomorrow.

Wouldn’t it be great if leadership actually spelled out what to expect, including some of those “minor” details like severance terms?

The company should offer such a program so people who are willing to leave could have the option and reduce the size of layoff.
