If we're failing, let's fail consistently

My gut feeling is they don't know what they are doing and are just trying another model that will also fail. There are so many groups to all running around "getting alignment" with each other that they fail to just get the work done. They could be driving right off a cliff and all they would worry about is if they are doing it consistently across teams with shared components.

@ac+1kr3jt5gv makes a great point.

Here’s Why …

Why the LRs and why the change in Go To Market and Alignment.

  1. We are losing market share across all solutions

  2. Portfolio Account Executives only know how to order lunch for a customer meeting.

  3. Portfolio AVPs and ODs have only enabled their RMs and AEs in being incompetent by not holding them accountable

Nobody pushed back

Every major architectural disaster has the same structure underneath: there's a technical, visible problem, someone — usually more than one person — can see it, but pushing back costs something, so the decision passes under the name of "alignment" and eventually the system breaks.

TLDR: Most architectural disasters aren't a knowledge problem. The engineers knew. Speaking up just wasn't worth it.

KPMG Reduces U.S. Audit Partner Ranks

KPMG is reducing its U.S. audit partner count. Approximately 100 partners are exiting the firm. An early retirement initiative did not meet its goals. The firm aims to align partner ranks with its audit business. Departing partners will receive financial packages and support.

REALITY Peak Bureaucracy : 1.5 months wasted on a "trivial" non-issue.

A simple policy clarification and ended up in a 6-week loop of "alignment calls" and "deep dives" with multiple teams. It felt like explaining basic math to people determined to make it calculus. After 45 days of overcomplicating the simplest request, they finally came back and said it’s "trivial and not applicable."

The level of incompetence and the obsession with making everything a project is exhausting. We’re not innovating; we’re just spinning tires and calling it progress.

Visibility

I’ve just completed my PDR review, and my manager mentioned that I need to increase my visibility with the SLT. This feedback seems to come up almost every year. It makes me wonder whether the issue is really about my visibility, or if there’s a lack of clarity or alignment in how SLT evaluates contributions.

Exxodus, values (or lack there of) and opportunities

I chose to leave while I was ranked well and earning a strong salary before COVID and before the company’s negative challenges became more visible to others. It wasn’t about compensation or performance; it was about alignment. I realized that the work and priorities there no longer matched what I wanted for my life.

Today, I can honestly say that no amount of money, not even $2 million+ a year would persuade me to return as an employee.

We each get one life and one youth. I decided I didn’t want to spend my prime years in an environment that didn’t align with my values and aspirations. Working at ExxonMobil was a valuable experience. I learned a great deal, both positive and negative about corporate culture, and that clarity ultimately helped me make my decision. There are higher ambition and better career opportunities and experiences out there for many.

Wells Fargo / Jordan Creek

Wells Fargo will lay off an additional 25 employees from its Jordan Creek campus. These latest reductions are effective February 6, 2026. This brings Wells Fargo's announced layoffs in the Des Moines metro to 152 since September, and 1,393 since April 2022. The company stated the changes reflect a push for efficiency and alignment with market conditions. CEO Charlie Scharf also indicated that artificial intelligence is expected to impact future workforce adjustments.

We're All Sc--wed

A lot of verified assessing and head hunting at the top for 2026 as we end 2025. A big big profit year is needed as Wilson bids farewell and takes his millions and millions of unearned capital with him and sets the stage for his heir apparent in 2026.

A lot of restructuring coming, a lot of combining and aligning of areas happening, a lot of movement of additional services to vendors and overseas, implementation of the incomplete and flawed AI too early, and reductions in force are a certainty as we head into the first half of 2026.

Get your fe--s consolidated and be ready for what is coming.

Marketing town hall

So according to our CMO, we don’t need to worry about the presence report any more - she seemed surprised at how much people couldn’t stand it. And market based culture is just about focusing on the customer, not Amazon-style rank and yank sweatshop BS - he barely ever used the word customer in his screed. There does not seem to be a lot of alignment here.
