Who all from Cigna has been impacted by the layoffs? What leaders have been let go over the last week
Another week, more layoffs
Do we know what's getting hit this time? Or do we get to guess again?
actuaries get impacted yet?
heard someone say actuary and client were next, anyone know anything
If HCSC is a customer owned, then what powers do the customers have??
Atleast with Cigna, I can buy their stocks. USAA is customer owned and gives it policy holder dividends. Can policy holder of HCSC limit executive pay or play a role in governance?
Wearing black tomorrow
Employees on the private Facebook groups are talking about doing it in rememberance.
Grow Up!
Yes, last week su-ked. And like you, I’m nervous about what’s to come. But let’s not kid ourselves or rewrite history. When the pandemic hit, this company didn’t toss us aside while the economy melted down. We kept our jobs. Some of us even got cash... — read more
So which is it? More layoffs next week, or nothing until December?
It’s impossible to function normally when we don’t know what’s coming. Our livelihoods are on the line, and it’s a real a--hole move from leadership to keep us completely in the dark.
Submitting Applications Elsewhere
I can't afford to just up and quit in this economy, but I've started mass-applying for positions at various other companies that will truthfully probably pay better than what I make at HCSC anyways. This RIF has been the catalyst I needed to get the... — read more
Are the layoffs over for now?
Will there be more next week? Anyone aware? I’ve heard that they will start reviewing and laying off lower level employees but not sure when.
How many more days until we can apply back to Cigna?
Who’s coming with me?
Let’s Be Real
I truly think Headquarters should be moved to Richardson. As long as HQ is in Chicago, the “Chicago Way of Doing Things” will continue to prevail over our company culture. Talking a good game, but not really looking out for our members… giving in to... — read more
Next Round Of Layoffs
I guess we nervously await round 2 in December? How can we work like this?
Question for the group
If the board put it to the masses for a vote.. Would you vote to suspend ALL bonuses and pay raises for a year to avoid a RIF? It’s all or nothing, if we vote to suspend bonuses and raises.. nobody gets them.
What the he-l just happened
Anyone else reflecting on this week wondering what the he-l just happened? A typical week became a week of doom and gloom. It became hard to focus, the rumor mill roaring along with a sorry excuse of response by our CEO. In all my years at HCSC, I’ve... — read more
Something is wrong with the severance!
I am getting only 12 weeks of severance for 23 years of work. The 12 weeks basically add up to my salary for the remainder of the year. No f..king appreciation for my years of service! I am talking to a lawyer before signing this! Medical and... — read more
Email was not for us…
Message Was to the markets and other industry leaders to justify the upcoming price increases to employer plans. Also to justify the massive 43M CEO pay. Clearly Savings from “the modest adjustment” barely match these massive pay and bonus c-suite... — read more
As a former Cigna employee...
...it feels a little better to know that this company is also sh-----g in it's employees who've been around longer. I feel less picked on. Maybe we have been getting the HCSC experience all along.
New Private Company Jet
Did you know… HCSC recently purchased a new private jet? Surely that will help keep administrative costs down.
Terrible Email From the Highest Paid Healthplan Exec
Just a reminder that Maurice is the highest paid Healthplan CEO last year at over $40M and today he sent the most insulting, insensitive, nonsensical, uninformative email. It’s time to replace the leadership team.
Maurice sent a warm fuzzy email
It's all better now. All is forgiven and we can all just move along like this never happened.
Let’s Stop the Personal Attacks!
It seems that some people are using this forum to vent personal frustrations rather than to provide constructive feedback. Calling out individuals or departments in an attempt to damage reputations or careers is neither productive nor fair. If you... — read more
LAYOFFS at HCSC
Unfortunately the foot soldiers of the company are the ones suffering. They do the work and still struggle with day to day expenses.
Maurice Smith’s Profit
There’s a LinkedIn article circling around my department right now of the top 10 highest paid insurance CEOs of 2024. Good ole Maurice is #1, taking home more than 40 million dollars. Seems to me if he just took a measly pay cut of 10 million he... — read more
Let's not forget
I'm sad about the layoffs. I was laid off from my last role. It was very painful. Very painful. And I had a lot of anger and felt betrayed., I've seen vicious criticisms towards Maurice, Manika, Shannon, John and Kelley. Let's back off the mean... — read more
We’re definitely off the hook today?
Thank god. I feel for everyone who was affected, and I truly hope things work out for each of them. As for the rest of us, we desperately need a breather. Yesterday was brutal, and it takes days to even begin regaining a semblance of normalcy after... — read more
Have you received official email today?
For those officially let go, please confirm or share if you’ve received official promised email (assuming it’s Docusign) and if it includes list of those titles let go.
Nothing in the news
Does anybody else find that interesting? I wonder how much they had to pay to keep this under wraps.
Anyone down for a walkout? Town halls, Blue Pulse?
Hear me out… as I’m finishing my required mylearnings for showing empathy (let’s all laugh…) I got mad. This was terrible. People are calling it HCSC HUNGER GAMES WEEK. I’m sick to even be here still. How this was done was appalling. “It’s business”... — read more
How are decimated teams supposed to continue functioning?
Some lost more than half of their teams. What are they supposed to do now?
This is the new Viva Engage
All of us in-office employees have been standing around talking about this site. There are so many new users here this week, it's going to be the new employee water-cooler going forward.
9/26 Layoff only thread
I hear there's more today so: Title / org and location only.
I love my in-office days!
Our team has it figured out. Since leadership wants us to collaborate face to face, we all show up around 9:30-10:00 a.m. to avoid traffic, stand around visiting for a few hours, all go out to 2 hour team lunches (the restaurants around the office... — read more
The solution is simple: Sabotage Open Enrollment
We have fewer people to do the work, processes that are now broken due to missing critical staff, and no official knowledge of who has been let go beyond word of mouth. If we are not in a position to onboard and effectively support new members... — read more
Of course RTO is the next move
They need new attrition tactics to keep cutting headcount, preferably on the cheap. I’ve read that designated telecommuters won’t be forced back, but you can bet they’ll create “conditions” that push them out anyway. RTO will be designed to make... — read more
Are contractors going to be affected or just HCSC internal staff/Cigna conveyed employees?
I have several contractors that I rely on to deliver infrastructure needs, as well as developmental projects. Do I need to start planning to lose them or are they safe presumably until their contract is over?
