Additional Layoffs for 2026

I was released on 3/4 and ever since leaving life is SO much better. It feels good to smile again and enjoy life beyond AT&T. Just curious if my previous post from February was accurate in predicting additional upcoming layoff dates:

4/22/26
6/19/26
8/19/26
10/2/26
11/4/26

Foreign Workforce in Strathcona Refinery

Lots of foreigners (Americans, Indians, Malaysians) under the guise of “specialty skills” Canadians can’t apparently perform in their customs letter. All lies! Folks forced to signing these bogus letters to allow these foreigners through and steal OUR jobs.

It’s not that Canadians can’t perform these jobs, but that the company doesn’t want to hire or have laid off Canadians that used to do the same job.

Companies like Imoerial should be taxed more. They’ve taken jobs from tax paying Canadians.

I do my job to best of my ability and go home. MY job. Not everyone else's.

A few years ago, this career became just a job.

My only motivation is pay day, and putting food on the table.

No climbing the corporate ladder
No MVP photo op.
No spreadsheets.
No daily reports.
No metrics.

I do my job to best of my ability and go home. MY job. Not everyone else's.

I think this is how most of us see the job these days, @ct+1kpc62cbh. It's sad that it came to this. But seeing it as anything more is foolish.

Are there more layoffs coming?

I feel like I’m being micro managed and pocket watched to the point where I think I’m being pushed out. I also think my job is on the line and in the next couple years it’s either gonna be obsolete or outsourced offshore. For reference I’m in the client services dept. anyone else?

Q re AI Impacts

I want to see what people on this board think about the impact of AI on our industry or specific roles/teams. I know that things are already happening and that there is no going back, it's not looking good. But I also thing that the impact is not going to be linear and that some parts will be affected more than others. What do you think and are you seeing it already. I am in Finance/planning so impacts have been limited so far but I can see situations where some of the low level work is completely done with AI.

Last Week for February Layoff People

How did we all do with the job search? I was blessed to be able to snag a job pretty quickly. To the people who are left behind: you will NEVER have less work than you do right now, but you'll probably have more eventually. Private equity isn't going to spend income on additional payroll. If you're considering leaving I say look around, it's not so bad out here. Then again it took a shove to get me out the door so who am I to preach? Good luck everyone, may the grass be greener on this side.

Finally caught the bullet, and I'm not even a little sad about it

The job was a dead end anyway. Severance is decent, I've got savings, and I can afford to give myself a well-deserved break for a few weeks before I start looking again. I'll find something eventually. No point in stressing. Good luck to everyone still there, and always keep an eye out for something better.

IBM to reduce 20% of workforce in Slovakia

The US technology group IBM has begun a new round of job cuts in Bratislava, with hundreds of roles at risk as the company continues to scale back its workforce in Slovakia.

Slovakia’s labour office has recorded a planned reduction of 439 positions in the business services sector following a notification submitted in mid-March.

It’s time to leave

This company is going down, the job market isn’t nearly as bad as what people are saying. You are so smart! There are companies that value your time and won’t fight you to make progress. It’s time to send out applications. It’s not worth staying here and fighting, they sold us all out, but the future for you is bright.
