Almost all onshore labor being let go in my department

They are doubling-down on their India Capability Center and doing massive layoffs after they missed earnings. If things don't improve this quarter (which seems doubtful with tight wallets keeping people away from their vets), there will almost certainly be another round of layoffs in 3 months.

Its very very quiet...

Ahh yes, let the silence and content cover you like a warm blanket. Not much chatter about folks not going into the office.... Not much chatter about anything really.
When its this quiet, you should be worried.
Cuts are coming.
A rather large wave of cuts....

Lets see whats going on-
Offshore contractors are currently being hired as FTEs, under the guise of "contractor reduction"
OCC results are being scanned and loaded into AI to begin automating controls and workload
The ServiceNow "OOB" deployment is heavily oriented towards AI
We have hundreds of FirstBank employees waiting for group assignments
Lots of tech issues occurring simultaneously and more frequently.
Q2 Pulse survey results are non-existent.
RTO 5 across the board is seemingly NOT across the board. 4000+ people still WFH in PA

With all this going on, and nothing being said, its indicative of a high level decision currently underway.

It’s official and I told all of you

Giant Eagle officially was bought by Krogers for $1.65 billion dollars. I knew back then 10-15 years ago and I had tried warning folks. I think I made a post about it on here back then and was accused of making it up and one person even said it looks like a toddler posted it. When I began seeing Giant Eagle doing a lot of cuts and penny pinching trying to make their books look good, I knew then they were either going out of business or trying to get bought out. Then there was a lot of turnover at their corporate offices and it seemed like corporate didn’t care what went on at their stores anymore too. I knew something was going on.

Layoffs Are a Reminder, Not the End

Face it, guys.

Layoffs are imminent. Even if your job is safe today, there's always a chance you could be affected in the next round.

Don't waste your energy stressing about what you can't control. If you have the opportunity to find a better job, take it. If not, keep preparing.

Fear won't help you. Keep learning, keep improving, and keep leveling up. If you're good at what you do, there will always be opportunities.

And before anyone asks—I'm doing the same. Whether I survive the layoffs or get laid off, I'm already preparing for the next opportunity.

Manager vs Union

It is rather interesting, almost funny, that when we're surplussed, union workers actually get more than managers. The termination pay for union workers is more than severance pay for managers and the ongoing medical, dental and vision benefits are much better for union workers than for managers. We're all going to eventually be laid off - that's inevitable - however when that day comes for each of us, union workers are for sure better off than managers.

Submitting Today

I am submitting my VSP today. Nobody is doing anything...leadership out constantly... its joe over. I might be on a generational run right now though... I was lucky and have a final interview for role outside of healthcare... I wont get into the specifics, but I do feel very confident based on all available information, and conversations with the hiring manager. No, its not iron clad, but its enough for me to take the leap and leave. Since I haven't had a bonus the entire time I have worked here.... the VSP would be nice. However, they really don't want anyone to actually be able to take it though. It takes a very particular situation to benefit from the VSP based on all of the restrictions. There is nothing HUMAN about executive's behavior. The lies. The condescending rhetoric. The "transformations." Its bogus and I am over it. I wish everyone the best of luck, truly.

Centene Voluntary Separation Program – Important Context for Planning

I am in senior leadership. We are being told that there will be a 20% reduction in total headcount. This will happen in waves to minimize any single organization from feeling they are targeted. Employees who stay will be told to take on additional responsibilities. This will give a false sense of security, which will lead to other rounds of layoffs.

H-1B visa holders are not receiving the buyout offers. They will be let go in much greater numbers. Their visa is tied to the job, so once they are out they only have 60 days to find new sponsorship or leave the country. Many of them are being pushed out in these reductions.

The job market will be saturated and many companies do not hire in high numbers in Q4. For the sake of your families I highly recommend reducing your output at Centene and going full time into the job search process. There is no such thing as being safe in this. Even if you make it past the firings you’ll be given more work and no promotion. By the time the company starts to normalize, newer employees will be brought in at much higher salaries.

Microsoft Eyes More Layoffs Beyond Xbox

Microsoft is reportedly preparing to cut thousands of jobs as early as next week. These layoffs could affect less than 2.5% of its total workforce. Xbox, sales, and consulting roles are expected to be impacted. This move follows a pattern of tech giants trimming traditional headcount. The timing aligns with Microsoft's fiscal year-end budget review.

AI replaceing people at IBM -- or not! Nickel decision not worth 2 cents.

From CNBC.com:
Similarly, IBM replaced its HR functions with AI that handled around 94% of routine requests but was unable to meet the other 6%, which included ethical dilemmas. IBM then announced plans to triple its U.S. entry-level hiring across all business units in 2026.

“If we don’t continue to invest in entry-level hires, what happens in 3–5 years?,” IBM chief human resources officer Nickle LaMoreaux said at a Charter AI Summit in New York. “There’s no pipeline; the well simply dries up,” LaMoreaux added.

July 2026 - The day we lost so much talent

Today is the day where XOM lost an unbelievable amount of talent between our Australia friends moving to Woodside and the remainder of the Brits being made redundant. Sad day for us all and we will suffer the consequences long term. DWW should pay when something happens but hey this Merica so he will left holding his $100M fund and be left to retire happily whilst others pay the price

Organizational crisis

The continued restructuring appears likely to result in significant layoffs. My concern is that experienced leaders with valuable institutional knowledge are being replaced, increasing the risk of poor decision-making and execution. I hope leadership carefully considers the long-term impact on employees, customers, and the business.
