Just seen that a president announced that federal gov is closed for Christmas 12/24 & 12/26. Are banks going to follow and give us the holidays off as per federal holiday schedule?

All of the boomers on here will tell you that you are fortunate and should be grateful for the opportunity you have to work for a company, blah...blah. The reality is that none of us matter to any company, and none of us have ever mattered. The entire system is built to keep us indebted to, and dependent on, corporations. I consider myself politically very conservative, and I am not afraid to admit this. America was sold out long ago. We haven't had a true free market economy for at least 50 years or more. Everything that is done now is done to enrich corporations and political leaders. Banks and financial companies are some of the worst exploiters of the American people in existence. As long as we are indebted just to live, we can't ever be truly free.

The technology departments at Fiserv are a total mess. They are packed with Indian folks grabbing all the high-level spots like CIOs/SVPs, and then those guys keep hiring more “H1B” visa holders from India for their teams instead of Americans. They are bending or breaking immigration rules to hang onto their preferred H1Bs for leadership jobs that any American could easily do. This goes against everything Trump’s pushing to make America great again. They will also file a green card for each of them and will keep requesting for extensions, misusing the h1b clause. USCIS should soon audit Fiserv workforce to make sure it is not letting the core payments processor of America misuse any laws.

In 2025, America’s healthcare system is collapsing by design. There is no universal coverage, ACA tax credits have vanished for millions, and costs remain opaque and predatory. One illness can still mean debt or bankruptcy. This is not care—it’s organized insecurity.

Tying healthcare to employment has made everything worse. Jobs are no longer stable, yet coverage depends on them. Americans stay trapped in bad work or delay care out of fear. Meanwhile, college-educated workers in technology and healthcare are pushed aside as employers lean on H-1B visas and rush AI deployment to cut wages and labor costs. Workers lose jobs—and with them, their healthcare—while executives call it “efficiency.”

The deeper problem is political capture. Politicians have embedded themselves in healthcare policy while being financed by insurers, pharmaceutical companies, and hospital lobbies. Legalized bribery masquerading as campaign finance has turned public policy into a profit shield. As long as money writes the rules, reform will fail.

The solution is clear: delink healthcare from employment, make coverage universal and portable, and get politicians—and their donors—out of our healthcare decisions. End the corruption, end the chaos, and put people before profit.

Oracle has declared itself as infra company. I see large number of people are just copy pasting from llm’s. Do we still need this special talents for copy pasting from llm’s ? Rather save local job market.
I don’t blame h1b candidates but the job market has shifted and there is no special need for you anymore. We locals have to survive and not in the cost of paying less for you and your management playing politics.

Companies that offshore jobs should be taxed heavily. It’s essentially “exporting” jobs oversees. Verizon would have to pay a huge bill on that case.

If/when the government eliminates ACA, how will it impact layoffs at Optum?

The economy is worse than it was in 2009, and there are very few jobs available in the market. Yet, the current administration does not send H-1B workers back or prioritize American citizens in hiring decisions. President Obama handled the 2009 recession more effectively; he ensured that H-1B workers remained in India by denying visa approvals.

I have been there and have never seen a more political work place in my life. The least talented get promoted. The most talented are set up for failure, termination and layoffs.
I am pretty sure I am the next to go in the next round coming soon I suspect end of year.

Currently there are 250,000 people employed off shore by health insurance companies, In recent history 5000 jobs have been lost to Ai in out industry.

These changes represent increased profit not improved care. Both Democrat and Republican politicians need to step up and stop this. Health insurance companies all take federal dollars and as such it could be mandated that they only employ Americans.

This place is hopeless. To much politics going around. Managers are firing local employees and recruiting people in India. This is such a shame.

What does it say about us that when a man steals $100 worth of stuff in a C store he will spend time in jail, but when a man in a suit lies, cheats and steals hundreds of millions of dollars in ill gotten gains and tax breaks funded by the very people he stole from ends up in our government?

Hans was fired in 10/6 and documents to scandal were unsealed 10/30. He was fired over Verizons compliance to the subpoena while ATT REFUSED! The board didn’t fire him for abismal leadership (the board was complicit in destroying a great American company and allowing TMO to takeover telecom) they fired him because Hans didn’t have the brains to refuse to comply while competitors did. This puts the Frontier acquisition in jeopardy which is VZ only lifeline.

This means that Dan is just coming in to save face, fire as many people as possible, remember VZ absorbing 15k frontier employees so the VZ cuts will be nasty and Frontier employees will eventually get the boot in early 2027. Dan will not do anything revolutionary outside of what was already being planned prior to Hans leaving. Get ready to su-k for 2 more years until Dan steps down when he unsuccessfully gets VZ off the ground and hands it over to DRUM ROLL…..

John muthafkn Stratton.. sorry Scampath. That’s when VZ will have a small renaissance but won’t ever come close to TMO. Also remember that SpaceX which owns Starlink will IPO within the next 5 years and they will be the ones who take out TMO. VZ will be a distant 3rd.
