This is my first time going through a potential layoff, and I’m really struggling with the uncertainty. Ever since we heard the news , I’ve been anxious nonstop — it’s hard to , join calls, or think about much else.

How are you coping or distracting yourself ?

Seems quiet on the rumors (Fingers crossed)

There’s been so much rumors about layoffs, but no rumors on return to office for remote employees? Has anyone heard anything about this or will those employees just be part of the larger layoff and we will still keep some employees remote? It seems to be at other companies they did a larger mandate of return to office for remote workers to try to eliminate jobs more organically. It doesn’t seem like that’s a rumor swirling, are remote workers safe from this rif?

It has been eerily quiet for far too long. There were some changes in the beginning of the year. Other tech companies have been making sweeping changes and layoffs all throughout the year. It has been quiet around here. I feel there will be restructuring or layoffs soon. Do you?

Is it going to be calm for the rest of the year?

Does anyone know anything new?

Does anyone know if we are done with the current round of layoffs or should we expect more notifications coming in the following days? When we will know if we are safe or not until the next round?

Any new information? Just seeing people vent (which is understandable). This is too big and widespread for nobody to know anything

1. Given the mix of signals: yes, there is a non‐trivial chance something will happen (at least in some business units).
2. No, the rumor of an across-the-board, massive layoff next Tuesday is not firmly substantiated. It’s best treated as a possibility being promoted by this contributors who are scared or repeating rumors, not a certainty.
3. So if we were to assign rough probabilities (just an estimate):
   A. Some layoffs in certain units in the near term: ~60-70%
   B. A broad, company-wide massive layoff next Tuesday: maybe ~30-40% or less
   C. The status quo (no major layoffs) is still plausible: ~20-30%

Target has been doing smaller, quiet moves all year. There isn’t a need nor desire to do something so massive that it further erodes consumer confidence, invites more scrutiny from additional boycotts, and possibly drives away top talent while paralyzing those who stay. More likely it will be continued, surgical cuts while bolstering/hiring for areas that leadership believes will drive positive change for shareholders.

I know it’s tough not to panic, but take a breath. You have zero control over what happens to you and your peers, unfortunately.

It's officially Tuesday... is this the week? Someone must know for sure, a lot of chatter on the site. Many large meetings were canceled and almost 60 days till end of year. I really wish the company would just do a yearly VSP instead of rifs. It would be easier on everyone who wants to stay another year or leave.

Those of us impacted by the FIS sale, please be aware that FIS is scheduled for a major reduction in force on November 19th. Word is this will include many of us that were hoping for a stable place to land.
The wonderful company we work for is also about to make another cut. Some managers met yesterday, other meetings will be held this week. It doesnt look good. So glad I started applying to other places. I am done with this bs.

We might get one big round that everyone’s waiting for, but it won’t be the end. We can expect smaller, targeted cuts to keep happening for months until things look the way they want them to. None of us will be safe for a long time. Sadly, this is just our reality now.

Before deciding it'll be bad, or good, or whatever, why can't we just wait for a few months and see what happens?

Seems Senior Management is in office this week. Have any departments been advised of their last day yet?

After announcing major layoffs and the transfer of operations from Calgary to Edmonton, John Whelan has been completely absent. No follow-up email, no public address, and not even a presence in supervisor forums to discuss the impacts of the decision. Employees are left in uncertainty, while leadership has gone silent. It’s disappointing to see the person responsible for these major organizational changes disappear from view. Maybe he is busy setting up that "advocacy office" in Calgary....

Will there be more this coming week?

It feels like working in limbo. Everyone’s just waiting for the next round of cuts, going through the motions. It was never fun here, but it used to be friendly. Now nobody talks, everyone’s just waiting for the other shoe to drop. It’s so draining that getting laid off almost sounds like a relief.

I'm asking specifically about the US.

Any management got laid off or just regular folks?

I’ve only been hearing rumors, and they vary wildly. I’d really like to have at least some sense of what’s coming, because I’m genuinely worried about my job, like I imagine most of us are. The job market is terrible, and the bills don’t stop.

Great. That’s really going to do wonders for morale.

Are layoffs going to continue? So many folks were let go, and yet no official communication whatsoever.

Anyone have any ideas what departments will be hit?

Last one for this year - another 5 to 7k to Let go, Majorly in US, Silent announcement will follow in the next few Business Days = Thanks Giving Reward for the Employees (Rember next 2 to 3 years there will be a Huge Reorg is going to happen, that will be beyond what we have seen this year, this is just tip off the Ice berg)

Do you have a job you can offer me??? Trust me, a lot of us are trying to get out just so we don’t end up jobless. The job market is absolute trash right now. I’ve been actively looking for a new job for a year with zero luck. In my 15 years in the corporate world, it’s never been this hard to find something better.

There was supposed to be an Accommodations in the Workplace presentation by AbsenceOne, this coming Tuesday, 10/21. It was postponed with no new date announced.

Could 10/21 be the day?

It’s been a literal bloodbath, with little to no official information, and people are reporting layoffs basically everywhere. The US seems to have been hit especially hard. This tells me we’ve been in worse shape than anyone thought, and that this round is just the beginning of more chaos. If the rumored numbers are true, there’s no coming back from this to anything even remotely resembling BD as we knew it.

Who is in charge of Nickelodeon at this point? Does anyone have any insight how Nick will be impacted in these layoffs?

The mentioned they wanted to be done woth everything as soon as possible (end of fiscal year?). We are approaching the end of October and it seems nothing has happened. Does anybody know if anything has happened? Within my group it seems like the news has been forgotten.

But I’m a chicken. I’ve got a family, aging parents, bills that keep climbing, and debt that isn’t going anywhere, while the options out there shrink by the day. So yeah, I’m worried out of my mind. It’s not helpful, but I honestly don’t know how to help myself. Most of us don’t have solid ground to stand on or savings to weather the storm.

I have a feeling that if I get let go in the coming round, the overwhelming feeling will actually be relief. Maybe that’s just me coping, but I’ve been fed up with this place for so long that it overshadows everything else.

I’m also afraid this round won’t be the end of it.

There are bits and pieces of information floating around, but I still can’t figure out how far along we are in the process or how worried I should still be.
