Best info got so far -- Decision on consolidaitos of roles across the firm.

This is what we were told :
Sr leadership are moving toward consolidating developers into larger teams (minimum of 10-15 people) rather than smaller squads.
At the leadership level:

  • VP-level Squad Leaders overseeing non-prioritized projects, small teams, or any L8 Individual Contributors are at risk of layoffs.
  • Those who retain their positions may be reassigned to L7 Director roles and report to Engineering.
  • For non-core business functions (Finance, HR, Marketing), we may see also reduced headcount to streamline operations and reduce fat.

Specifically:

  • There can be an approximate 15% reduction in technology leadership positions (L7+)
  • Non-leadership roles will see minimal reductions, but still possible
  • Contractor contracts may not be extended
  • Please be prepared for potential changes in your reporting structure.

Plant closures imminent!

Based on the economic climate and large loss of sales / nobody is buying / nobody can afford our products. Plant closures are next in the manufacturing side. Consolidation of manufacturing 1 plant per state excluding Texas, California, and Florida. If volume ever comes back they will just buy cheap land in the middle of nowhere and make it 1NA plant as this has been the plan for over a year now. For those who don’t know what 1NA is, it’s 1 North America which is Gatorade, Frito Lay, and Pepsi Beverages in the same building either warehouse or manufacturing doesn’t matter the setup. It uses 3PL which is 3rd party logistics meaning frontline employees aren’t even PepsiCo employees. Also 1NA plants are fully automated so estimated reduction of employees by 80%.

Help

If you are wondering if your office will be closing soon let me help you figure that out.

  1. Go to workday.
  2. Go to your organizations
  3. Find organization that list all of the employees who report to your building or office.
  4. Write that number down.
  5. Figure out the capacity of your building(Google search or gemini)
  6. Now do some quick math and divide the employees of that org over buildings capacity and times that by 100.
  7. If your number is below 65% capacity, your office is almost certainly closing.

Remeber Q2 starts in a few days and they have a strategic plan to save 5billion on opex spending. Without closing a ton of offices, how else would you think they would get there?

UP Dispatchers

How many more quarter-zip pullovers with Iron Pulse logos will it take to buy your job? UP is doing this to keep you distracted from the fact they are trying to eliminate your positions. They even tell you in the Town Hall meetings they are using technology to consolidate as many dispatching desks as possible. Meanwhile, Vena has promised the NS ATDA dispatchers their jobs through a protection agreement. What has he promised you as a "valued member of the management team"? Nothing, absolutely nothing. In 2020 they cut people who only had a few years left to fulfill their 360 months for the full Railroad Retirement annuity. They will do it again! You are not special. This is not about being against the company; it's about protecting the career you dedicate and give so much of yourself to. You are trading small prizes for a possible guaranteed job, guaranteed wage increases, much better health care during your working years, health care after you retire, and protection against territory/dispatcher consolidations.

Has anyone heard if the acquisition is expected to start this summer?

With the reorganization that’s been happening lately, and hearing there may be more changes coming, it seems like it could be part of preparing the company for a smoother acquisition.

In situations like this, layoffs sometimes continue periodically leading up to a sale. After the deal is completed, there’s often another round of restructuring during the integration phase, which can happen about six months to a year after the sale. In some cases, there may even be another round if the acquiring company decides to consolidate teams or overlapping roles.

excellent decision

having jana partners onboard is a excellent choice. the though decisions will finally be made. non critical assets will be sold. the staff bloat will be addressed and all of these satellite offices will be consolidated. and the ceo gets to play the good guy. this thing might actually turn around

When it all changed

The consolidation of the offices to the hubs. ECS and future state. The loss of jurisdictional expertise from the regional offices to the hub and an SCP manual. You lost touch with what made you number 1- no customer cares about your metrics, they want confident knowledgeable guidance and you’re not giving that anymore, especially when management doesn’t even know the job and just focused on your idle time and how many cause of loss you closed. When you stop putting the customer first and worry about the things they never see or know, you lose touch with the actual mission. You cannot separate yourself by being like everyone else
