It nice to feel better than the colleagues because the boss like you and pays you more. But when the eggheads at central office start running spreadsheets and who can get cut to save money, you stick out like a sore thumb and an easy choice to cull first.

Minneapolis-based Hennepin Healthcare is making service line changes that will result in the elimination of about 100 positions, citing a broader effort to stabilize its finances and protect core clinical services.

The health system said Jan. 26 it will close or integrate several stand-alone clinics and services, including chiropractic and acupuncture, with patients referred to external providers.

They lost any maneuvering room to show results besides cuts a long time ago. At this stage, we're in a managed decline, an effort to maximize profits for the top and shareholders for as long as possible.

Anybody else shocked it's nearly the end of January and we're yet to see any layoffs this year? I know something might be coming soon, but still. I got so used to constant layoffs that this reprieve seems like a miracle in itself.

Amazon has announced a new round of layoffs as part of its plan to eliminate 30,000 corporate jobs. The latest cuts will remove 14,000 corporate positions across Amazon Web Services (AWS), retail, Prime Video and human resources.

We're losing jobs in one place, but they're adding plenty new jobs in other places. Wouldn't a simple hiring freeze accomplish the same cost savings without destroying morale and losing experienced people?

We are carrying excess headcount in Wealth and Brokerage SLs/GCLs. They are largely unproductive, with their primary 'output' being pointless PowerPoints for internal forums that achieve nothing. Their grades are inflated and must be cut to a Grade 7 level

Taking the chance to work for this company was the worst experience of my career. I feel terrible for the amazing leaders we lost today, I am sure my role is next. Onward and upward.

Just a devastating day , esp in OH where rumors said 25% got cut. Lots of tears and sadness. Some people left for the day after they found out (don’t blame them). Hopefully those impacted get back on their feet soon. For those who survived , I think the question you need to analyze is will you be on the chopping block in next round?

Western Digital Cuts San Jose Positions

Western Digital initiated job reductions within the Bay Area region. The San Jose headquarters saw 87 job losses. A WARN notice confirmed the January 20 date. Western Digital stated these job changes are permanent. No employee displacement or union representation exists.

You heard it here first. The next layoff for Management and Bargained employees is going to cut deep. Organizations and groups typically not impacted are going to see a significant (30%) reduction in force. This year will also be significant focus on 3rd and 4th levels.

Train wreck in every org coming. We struggle to manage operations with current staffing, and no way in he!! will HIH provide % of 1% support to keep lights on, nevermind manage strategy. Managers in design centre are prepping for job cuts. Design usually runs lean, and misses the cuts happening in the rest of the company. If this is correct, GM is in trouble. Design has been told in the past that if studios are cutting there are issues coming.
