School Counselors Needed More Than Ever in North Carolina

North Carolina school districts face significant budget constraints. These financial pressures are leading to layoffs of school counselors. Student needs for mental health and academic support are currently growing. The state's student-to-counselor ratio already exceeds national recommendations. School leaders must prioritize and better utilize these essential professionals.

You can't escape it

I'm not saying we should accept how things are at Walmart, but I've been looking around and I can't find any retailer that actually treats its employees well. Even the ones that are performing better financially are just as bad to their people. It seems like the only way to get out of this is to leave retail entirely. Otherwise you're just moving from one bad situation to another.

Would anybody here like to apply for a Macy’s Credit Card?

I mean, since getting as many applications seems to be the only goal these days why not branch out and ask all over the place? Who cares about actually selling stuff, right? Let's get those applications and who gives a damn about our actual jobs. Who cares about selling. /s This place is a fu--ing mess.

Reddit? Layoffs?

Okay two questions. How many people have been laid off thus far? I feel like we’re all in the dark. Second, what happened to the Reddit page? Did people get found out or something? Just curious why we all never are on there and it only seems to be people asking for references.

The days of high paying tech roles is over with.

You are being let go so that they can loop back around with the same job openings at much much lower pay with the reasoning that AI does the bulk of the decision making.
The 6 figure tech job will very soon be a thing of the past. This plan is unfolding right before your eyes now. Don’t let the lie you tell yourself of “maybe not me” manifest into a false sense of security. Your days a literally numbered on the calendar. Good luck everyone.

Travis's management downline?

So Travis was shown the door this week - and rightly so - but when are we ever going to clean up the rest of his management downline? They are every bit as incompetent and inexperienced as he was. You all know the names.

We continue to fall further and further behind in PowerFlex, PowerMax, PowerScale, and PowerStore. There's just little to no innovation or development velocity with any of these groups.

What there is, however, is a lot of excuses, missed deadlines, missed deliverables, and quality control issues. That's a management problem (lack thereof) that needs to be addressed immediately. How long you going to sit on your thumb JC?

Congress Debates AI Regulation Amid Job Loss Concerns

A recent report connects artificial intelligence to widespread job losses. It indicates nearly 200,000 layoffs have occurred since 2023. Many Americans feel uncertain about AI's rapid development. Younger workers are especially concerned about their future jobs. Lawmakers remain divided on regulating AI versus promoting innovation.

I'm almost hoping for it

I've been thinking lately about how I feel about the possibility of layoffs, and I realized something that surprised me. I'm not scared anymore. In fact, part of me is actually kind of hoping it happens. I genuinely like what I do, but Honeywell has gone out of its way to make everything harder, more complicated, and less satisfying. If getting laid off is what it takes to get out of here, I think I'd actually feel relieved. What does that say about a place that some of its employees feel that way?

More T-Mobile stores closing (with layoffs)?

This posting was on reddit on July 2 in the r/tmobile channel

"My DM gathered all of us for a meeting today at 4 PM and gave us 60 day notice, apparently many stores are getting notice today as well and by next month many more stores are going to get notice, if you are not in a top 100 or experience you are unfortunately next on the chopping block, good luck to all of you in future endeavors."

Political and Toxic

Came to CDW from elite enterprise tech sales (Oracle, Gartner, Dell, AT&T) thinking the partner side would be a great pivot. It is easily the worst, most disorganized company I’ve ever seen. Complete political mess, overworked staff, underpaid talent, and zero actual care for the client.

They wanted my C-level global accounts, but every time I opened a door, CDW failed to execute. I was constantly apologizing to clients, trying to force a transactional CDW box-checker brand into spaces handled by Accenture, Deloitte, and Wipro. The capability just isn't there.

Also, I started seeing some of our greatest talent walk out the door. One office had 7 Client Executives walk out the door in one day!

They ended up cutting me and keeping an inside AM who was just promoted to CE. Good luck maintaining an executive position in these accounts! (Been with CDW for 10 years as an inside AM)

My manager was new to corporate accounts and you could hear him turning the pages to his “How to be a CDW Manager binder”… LOL He wanted to surround himself with reps that don’t intimidate him.

Getting released from this place is the first time I’ve been able to breathe in months. The relief is real. If you have a solid enterprise background, don't waste your time or risk your reputation here.

Laid off from nike a few months ago. the layoff wasn’t even the part that hurt

I actually believed the “nike family” thing. treated coworkers like friend not just people i clocked in with..that’s on me for being naive i guess but the people who still have jobs there? spineless. i sat next to these people for years covered for them more times than i can count. the second i got laid off i became invisible. No “hey that su-ks.” just silence, one text is all it would have taken

During my last few weeks all anyone wanted was KT. drain everything useful out of me then go quiet the moment h i’m not needed anymore. Tried reaching out for referrals after people i’d helped before. suddenly everyone’s “already used up their referrals.” people still there just saw my messages on linkedin and said nothing not even a polite no

Funny how the ones who actually had a soul already left that company on their own. the ones still sitting in those seats are just the ones who don’t mind stepping over people to stay comfortable

Again not mad about the layoff i’m done pretending the people who stayed behind are good people. they’re not. they just haven’t been laid off yet..
