Out of nowhere one of the VPs in OCI was let go and the team under him have no clue what’s going on. It’s this standard practice?

Kerry is leaving!
This call taking place right now just further justifies why she needs to go.
Off to a bad start
Well, the big kickoff is underwhelming.
I wasn't expecting an episode of the view right out of the gate. I would've expected this later this afternoon.
Good lord, we're such a woke, gynocentric mess. I gotta get outta here.
Wonder if I can get a useful gig like driving a truck.

ISG Ice cream social in hop
Next week there is an ice cream social in Hop. They laid off thousands of people with a stock price of over $450 a share. They’re going to lay off more people in August and Nov.
They’re going to give you an ice cream social. If you are reading this and are in Hopkinton, don’t go. F*ck those guys, they’re the most greedy little pr!cks I’ve ever seen in my life.
Everything went to sh!t once Arthur took over.
They can’t placate us with ice cream. Think about how insulting that is for a second.
Not a bonus, not an increase in your salary for doing great work, not stock, but F*cking ice cream.
Show them your disgust. Don’t go.
Procter & Gamble Announces Major Workforce Reduction
Procter & Gamble is planning to eliminate up to 7,000 non-manufacturing positions by fiscal year 2027. This significant workforce reduction is intended to help the company manage increasing tariff costs and streamline its operations. The cuts will primarily affect office and support staff, not those involved in production or factory work. This strategic move aims to improve cost productivity and maintain margins amidst external economic pressures. The company will focus on redeploying savings into growth, brand building, and innovation initiatives.

Brookshire Grocery Company Shuts Four Locations
Brookshire Grocery Company is closing four of its stores this month. The affected locations are in Ashdown, Arkansas; Rayville, Louisiana; Winnfield, Louisiana; and Grambling, Louisiana. These closures follow an evaluation of the company's retail footprint. Employees have been offered positions at other Brookshire stores. Customers can still redeem fuel points at remaining locations.

Merck KGaA Mandates Return-to-Office, Risks Job Cuts
Merck KGaA's U.S. research division is implementing a mandatory three-day-a-week in-office policy for its R&D staff. This new requirement applies to employees previously hired for remote work. Those unwilling to relocate or commute to the Billerica office will face potential layoffs. The company is offering relocation assistance to affected employees. Up to seventy individuals may be impacted by this policy change.

Seems Cummins controls this site
If you post about the misandry at Cummins stating facts....it gets deleted. Strange.
The best way?
Many years ago when I heard some of my friends had landed jobs at Cisco I thought "wow Cisco is smart to hire them". I even considered buying the stock.
All of them got laid off.
So when Cisco bought the company I worked for I already knew what was coming. The day the deal was announced I should have updated my resume and left. But I stayed anyway. I lasted longer than I expected but those years were mostly wasted.
I watched good friends and talented people get cut. After about a year I made a decision. I was done working extra hours or giving my soul to the company. If someone asked where I worked I would say Cisco but I always added that it was not the company it used to be back in the 90s. These days I even wonder if it was ever really that great.
In the end I gave them way less than my best effort. Sometimes I felt guilty about it. Then I would see someone busting their a** working weekends and late nights only to get laid off anyway. That made the message pretty clear.
Now it is my turn to be let go and I am still not sure which path was better. Should you work hard on principle even when the system does not care? Or do you push back against a machine that punishes loyalty?
I used every bit of that unlimited PTO. I never worked extra hours. Part of me is glad I fought the system in my own small way.
The other part wonders if it would have been better to go down still believing in the mission like Old Major in Animal Farm.

This week
The dark cloud is upon us.
Mood is incredibly low
Many from my UK team have been silently let go, and the remaining are looking to jump ship.
Psyop
While I suspect the July 16th date is accurate, I believe VZ upper management is leveraging this platform to foster an environment of anxiety. This narrative feels designed to artificially drive up productivity and force compliance through job insecurity. We should anticipate VZ to run continuous fake info such as these supposed fake weekly upcoming layoffs. My strongest recommendation is to disconnect from this forum and proactively channel your energy into finding a better opportunity elsewhere. This is my last time ever opening this site. This is a psyop. Wake up.
It's over
did you make it through? how do your orgs look?
Project platinum lol
Same old one Pearson project. Same old story. Different stupid trollop hiring her mates to underachieve.
It's Monday!
What's happening?

Poland Layoffs Coming?
Any information?
“Q&A: Ford CEO talks about falling in love with plant visits”
When headlines like this appear in the Detroit newspapers, written from Ford press releases by lazy “reporters,” two things are imminent: bad earnings reports and layoffs.
Org charts
I dare you to go to Workday and peruse some of the ridiculous org charts in certain states. Some of these org charts are ridiculously top heavy…
What I Wish Someone Told Me Before Joining EM
I’ve learned more about ExxonMobil’s policies and the unwritten, dirtier rules outside the office than inside it. I’m sharing what I’ve picked up so far. If this helps even one person who walks blind. Feel free to add to it and keep it a live threat:
- Be friendly, but don’t trust anyone. EM is not the place to build deep friendships. Surface level professionalism is safer.
- Keep your academic network alive. You never know when you might need an adjunct role, consulting, or a fallback path.
- Don’t share your goals. People we-ponize information here. Your ambitions become someone else’s leverage.
- Don’t share anything personal. Many people cannot tolerate seeing someone else happy or progressing. Protect your privacy.
- If you’re underutilized, speak up formally. Do your best, document it, and clearly inform management you need a project. Silence gets interpreted as complacency.
- If you’re paired with a senior person in your area of the same skill, set boundaries immediately. Define your tasks, your ownership, and how credit will be split. Otherwise, your work becomes “their contribution.”
- In team meetings, don’t rush to speak first. Read the room, understand the tone, then contribute. But don’t stay silent. You don’t want to leave labeled as “the one who didn’t participate.”
- Document every idea in writing. Don’t let anyone “zoom call” your idea away and then repackage it as theirs. Put things in email, timestamp them, and confirm ownership clearly.
- Don’t over acknowledge or admire people. The moment you over praise someone, they start acting like you owe them something. You don’t. Keep compliments minimal and neutral.
- Never let them think you’re desperate for the job — even if you are. Desperation is blood in the water. If they sense it, you become the easiest person to throw under the bus.
Speaking of AI
I asked AI for a friend about Possible acquisition of Teradata.
“ Teradata is widely considered a notable and highly viable takeover target for private equity (PE) firms and larger tech conglomerates. Multiple financial institutions and market dynamics point to Teradata being a prime candidate for a strategic acquisition“
Just sayin…. If the pattern fits…. Wear it.
Any news for Dell in Poland?
Any confirmed layoffs in Poland yet? Or any rumours what will happen?
Is this really happening?
I feel like this is another big hype up and not much will go down 7/16. There’s not many people with reliable intel and it’s less than a week out? I call BS
Coming back to Target
I left Target HQ 3 years ago and really want to come back. Does Target generally hire previous employees if they left on good terms? Do you have an advantage in the hiring process?

Interesting job post
I thought it was odd that the job listing is for either Berwyn, PA or NYC. We're looking at two completely different applicant pools there, and does this mean they've acquired a new PA office in Berwyn, or is this just the Archer office?
"We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Vice President, Full Stack Engineer to join our Managed Accounts Solutions Platform team. This role is located in Berwyn, PA or New York, NY."
I haven't heard anything new about Pennington or Wilmington office closures, but then, the way this place operates we probably won't hear anything until the last minute.
