Not even Pixar is safe anymore

Pixar Animation Studios, despite riding high on the success of summer blockbuster “Toy Story 5,” was hit particularly hard in a wave of companywide layoffs Tuesday at Disney.

Walmart Restructures Corporate Roles Amid AI Integration

Walmart recently announced layoffs impacting approximately 1,000 corporate employees as part of a global operational streamlining. These workforce changes are occurring as the retail giant continues to aggressively integrate artificial intelligence across its business. While the company states these are organizational adjustments, employees report increased pressure and concerns over AI-driven initiatives. Despite these layoffs, Walmart remains the world's largest private employer with 2.1 million associates globally. Shareholder proposals addressing AI's impact on worker well-being have been rejected.

Just Cut It.

Nike’s executives spent years talking about “protecting innovation.” Then they invited the Sword of Damocles to become CFO.

Enter DD. The sword hanging by a single horsehair over every employee, every budget, every project, and every team still foolish enough to think “innovation” is safe.

Damocles at least got to enjoy the banquet before he noticed the sword. Nike employees don’t even get that courtesy—they just get another restructuring email and the 15-minute call

The strategy seems simple:
Cut people. Cut budgets. Cut ambition. Cut innovation.

Pretty soon the only thing left with a Swoosh on it will be the cost savings spreadsheet.

“Just Do It” has become “Just Cut It.”

Amazon Faces Legal Challenge Over Warehouse Closures

Federal law classifies Amazon's Florida warehouse closures as permanent, despite the company's claims of temporary renovations. The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act mandates 60 days' notice for layoffs lasting over six months, a definition that applies to Amazon's two-year facility conversion plans. This legal discrepancy impacts over 1,100 workers across two Florida locations. Miami-Dade County is pursuing legal action against Amazon for violating land use agreements tied to job creation at one of the affected sites. The company's shift to a robotics-first design necessitates these extensive rebuilds, leading to significant workforce displacement.

Surprise! Your Leadership may be taking VSP!

I think the biggest surprise will be how many of the PL's everyone has been talking about on here are taking this themselves. I have gotten wind of names of people that have been approved and lots of VP's and Directors that have been around awhile are taking this as an opportunity to leave.

Something I had not considered.

OpenAI Welcomes Robin Vince Because Nothing Says Responsible AI Like BNY’s Leadership Style

Robin Vince announcing his appointment to the OpenAI board reads like peak corporate satire: the CEO of a bank whose employees publicly describe leadership as opaque, dismissive, and allergic to accountability is now helping steer the future of “responsible AI.”

Sadly, it’s almost poetic. At BNY, Vince champions AI as a “capacity creator,” which is a polite way of saying it helps leadership know more, move faster, and replace people more efficiently — a theme not lost on the thousands of workers and former workers posting their experiences on this forum.

His statement about deploying AI “responsibly, securely, and with strong governance” lands awkwardly when employees can’t even get responsible communication about layoffs, offshoring, or the never‑ending transformation cycle. And the part about AI benefiting “all of humanity”? BNY staff might settle for it benefiting even just a fraction of its workforce.

The real comedy is the humility act — Vince describing himself as “humbled and grateful” while employees describe him as absent, evasive, and increasingly disconnected from the reality inside his own institution.

If OpenAI truly wants to understand how AI impacts people, they’ve now got a board member whose own employees already feel like failed test cases.

How can someone who is so out of touch possibly guide humanity’s future while BNY employees can’t get straight answers during his entire tenure with the firm?

Eliza? . . . Eliza? . . . Can we get a little help here?!?!

BPS TA: four laid off this morning

No rhyme or reason for the chosen: some long term tenured, some newer, but good at their jobs. That department was being hammered by senior leadership about meeting SLAs. They will regret it later when the staffing is needed later in the year. Why, Lord, oh why?

Executives are psychopaths

Matt Carr had an all hands yesterday. He said we need to move on from the laid off employees, was laughing the entire time and came off as an arrogant fat man. Not to mention, was complimenting women for looking good, super weird. There was a tornado warning alarm that went off and he dismissed it and kept the call going. He’s not fit for that job. What makes him a psychopath more than anything is that he promised no more lay offs but we all know that lay offs will continue. These “leaders” are clueless.

nothing matters

the work you do is meaningless. This job is meaningless. They don’t care about you. Go find a better job. This company will never recover from this. They are programming you to endure this type of dystopian workplace nightmare don’t accept it. Run. Layoffs will continue. Org charts are still bloated.

never saw a company work so hard to disincentivize people

No meaningful raises for 99% of the employees
No more monetary awards to recognize years of service
No cost of living increases
Rare that leaders are allowed ot give monetary thank you's for going the extra mile.
OT . The company that comes to mind when people say what a shi&hole.

PepsiCo Sr leaders. Why are you here?

Sr. leaders: why are you still here? Cash comp at the 66th percentile, equity that hasn't moved since 2020. You're being paid below market and told the difference is in the stock — the same stock that just spent six years proving it isn't. Anyone with an equal offer should already be gone. And if you're lucky enough to catch a severance package? Take it. It's the best-performing asset this company has issued in a decade.

The cowards have risen

The sales manager cowards have all awoken from their coffins and have been unearthed - they cannot handle the pressure from the CRO and are funneling down the pressure. New VP nice guy but dud and already rolling out day 0 day 1 day 30 day 90 forecasting methods starting August and he thinks this is going to fix the horrid decline of this abomination of a company. SRD Kb lost her marbles and never make her number once as rep or dir or SRd she fire so many reps and replace with all duds already selling nothing what a joke

they all are cowards now writing big AI gen threaten emails to engineers support staff sales everyone

these are all big joke ppl

cro is biggest joke the tech industry has ever seen nobody gives a rats a-s about him or his life story or troubles no one like you! Leave cro!

The competitive landscape

I’m taking about the obvious ones (Veeva Systems, IQVIA, etc). Are they currently hiring Medidata employees? Any no-compete clauses for your standard IC/middle management personnel? Are they also going through the same layoff and cultural struggles as Medidata right now? For anyone working for Medidata competitors (either of equal size or smaller) has it been an improvement for your mental health?

Our own copilot told me I should quit...

...did this on an external AI too but translated all of my annual reviews into files, told it to parse them, told it my salary, & asked how hosed & stifled I am here compared to market. It told me not only to leave immediately (both Claude & Grok) but that while delivering more & more every year & outworking everyone else around me I've been deliberately sidelined, pushed around, & my personality used against me by my bosses in their responses to hold me down. That i'm leaving $50k/yr on the table & over the time I've been here have missed-out on $200k in earnings. No wonder I've felt so squeezed by this place & am barely surviving. Everyone else in my role & field is ki-ling it compared to me. This place su-ks & has stolen almost 10 years of career & growth from me.

I can't even get my boss on a regularly scheduled 1:1 for 15min to ESTABLISH a 1:3:5 for me after 2 years. He flaked yesterday while 'working' from India.

Combined with recently being told by my director to fudge numbers on Clarity & that my SSL usage is being tracked & used against me for (carrot dangle) prospective promotions - fu-k this place.

Let's not even discuss how I'm being split between two teams this year & how exhausting that is. They LOVE to keep me dangling in the wind moving from team to team to team - because I'll do it & can do it, I don't push back (thinking eventually SURELY some good has to come of this for me). I never get anything, all I get is hosed & progressively poorer, stolen from in lost earnings by this place. Sc--wed over at EOY in bonus while these shady executives hoard it all for themselves.

Anywhere else I'd be a senior engineer IC or manager by now. My loyalty has cost me a real career & major earnings.

I'm a swe earning under 100k after 8 fu--ing years. I'm done sulking & being a loser about it though. Now I'm on a mission.

Good job blowing me off manager, you just lost an employee.

Monday.com Restructures for AI Era, Cuts Workforce

Monday.com is implementing significant workforce reductions, impacting approximately 20% of its global employees. This decision stems from a strategic shift to adapt to the evolving AI landscape. The company is moving from a work management platform to one designed for AI agents and human collaboration. This restructuring aims to streamline operations and capture new market opportunities presented by AI. Monday.com emphasizes that this is not a cost-cutting measure but a necessary organizational change for future competitiveness.

Layoffs in Data Center and AI Group

Layoffs in Data Center and AI Group are part of restructuring, even though the division reported strong revenue growth and rising demand for AI...

Intel says it needs the right roles and skills for long-term success, but it has not said how many employees will lose their jobs or why more cuts are needed after earlier large layoffs.

The layoffs have raised concerns about job security in the tech industry and have reduced employee trust in companies that continue to invest in AI while cutting jobs.

The Lay Off Waiting Room

It's an excellent point made by a poster below. Many are hoping to cash out for the severance and feel entitled to do so. There is no disagreement with that. The sturm und drang has been real. Employees have earned that money. Now, they weigh whether hanging on for it will result in actually getting it. With the advent of the Cognizent bait and switch, it's a hard calculation. One colleague decided to bail after being je-ked around long enough.

Frontier and Ireland

I think some have asked and didn't get answers but I just heard on an all hands call today that some at Frontier as well as some from Ireland were included the last round of cuts. I didn't work with them personally but a lot of people on the call did and said loosing them was hard after everything they had contributed. I don't know the details like whether the work was offshored or just not needed but it is what it is. Odd since a lot of what we did was offshored to Ireland over a year ago.

All IT outsourced to India

Level one support was outsourced several years ago. Now level two support is outsourced to India. They laid off 30 technical people who knew what they were doing. It is a total nightmare if you have a problem. No one can understand a word they are saying. My system has been down 3 days and I don't know what to do. All management says is keep calling until you get someone you can understand.

Do corporate comms get any more vapid, stupid and meaningless than this...

Regarding this year's annual DCG layoff action: “As part of our broader strategy to become a more focused and efficient company, (the data center group) is aligning its organization to ensure it has the right roles and skills in place to position the business for long-term success,” Intel said in a written statement

For the comms/HR person that penned this, you're probably within ~12 months of getting axed, if not sooner.

Surplused 7/1

Fortunately I was surplused on 7/1 after 28 years at Att. I’ve seen this company go from, a great place to work to a Stanky hole.

Anyways, when should I expect my last paycheck or severance payment. I haven’t seen anything so far. Knowing the inefficiencies at AT&T, I’m worried that this may take multiple calls to HR one stop. Only to find out that nothing has been done.

I was layed off in recent restructure

For all of you here who are still waters employees enjoy the ride.
I was recently made redundant.
It is one of the worst feelings in terms of life change, people say no one died it's just a job,but it's not, to loose your job in these circumstances is devastating, I cannot put into words the mental effect this has had, yes no one has died but all your hard work and effort you put into the company are all wiped out in one moment, when you are told your role is been made redundant and you are no longer part of the corporation.
The hardest part in all this of this is why, when the corporation are still activley hiring and you ask the question what did making my role redundant really achieve, did it create synergy reduce reporting lines what did this really achieve in terms of delivering benefit, or living my legend.
