I was layed off in recent restructure

For all of you here who are still waters employees enjoy the ride.
I was recently made redundant.
It is one of the worst feelings in terms of life change, people say no one died it's just a job,but it's not, to loose your job in these circumstances is devastating, I cannot put into words the mental effect this has had, yes no one has died but all your hard work and effort you put into the company are all wiped out in one moment, when you are told your role is been made redundant and you are no longer part of the corporation.
The hardest part in all this of this is why, when the corporation are still activley hiring and you ask the question what did making my role redundant really achieve, did it create synergy reduce reporting lines what did this really achieve in terms of delivering benefit, or living my legend.

I am so happy the Tom Jenkins is laying off (firing) so many people to raise the stock price ...

I see the market was up again today, and the OpenText price ... oh, crud ... down again.

This company's outlook is bleak as long as Jenkins, his pupppet CEO, the so-called Board of Directors, Bell, Muhi, Rai, Berry, Cione, Acedo, and all the other Jenkins minions are in charge.

As a stockholder I demand change!

Medtronic Structural Heart Layoff Package

I was an R&D Engineer I with Medtronic for a year, with 7 months of prior co-op experience on the same team. In May of 2026, the project I was on was significantly gashed, resulting in functional leaders having less project work to give out than engineering resources available. Sadly, I was quite an easy target for the project to drop and my manager to no longer need. I'm posting the severance package here because I relied heavily on this site as rumors were swirling before the layoff.

My severance package:

  • 2 months of "garden leave" where I still received full pay and was "technically" still an employee
  • 4 weeks of true severance pay, given in a lump sum payment once I signed the separation agreement (no non-compete was given)
  • Unprotected PTO payout (keep in mind that the protected PTO does NOT get paid out, so if you think you'll be laid off, be sure to use all of your protected PTO)
  • MIP was still given (yearly bonus and additional 401k contributions)
  • Unvested company contributions to my 401k will be rescinded, so after the MIP payout they will be taking $7k back from my 401k.
  • They offered job placement help both within Medtronic and externally

All said and done, I couldn't have asked for a much better package (except the unvested 401k contributions being taken back). However, it still su-ks to get laid off.

Be prepared for a meeting to be put on your calendar after working hours. It will be your manager and an HR rep. The HR rep will be thoroughly unhelpful in answering questions.

Hospital Faces WARN Act Inquiry

A law firm is investigating West Suburban Medical Center for potential violations of the WARN Act. The hospital recently announced a mass layoff affecting 589 employees. This federal law requires employers to provide 60 days' notice before significant workforce reductions. Employees may be entitled to severance pay if proper notice was not given. The investigation aims to determine if the hospital complied with these notification requirements.

Dejavu 1993-1999 ex Synopsys employee

This layoff is so-called cleaning house/overlapping functions....happens with mergers/acquisitions. Saw many heads hacked from top to bottom throughout my tenure and left voluntarily after 7 years.....could hear the axe being sharpened again. Turbulent times then....and still today. BUT so glad I moved on to a better/bigger life.

Intel layoffs to hit Data Center group, including server CPU and AI chip teams

A technology company has announced significant job reductions. This move impacts employees across various departments. The company cited economic challenges as the primary reason for the layoffs. Further details regarding the exact number of affected individuals were not immediately available. This decision reflects a broader trend of cost-cutting measures in the tech sector.

Business Update: 30 Remote DTFR Employees Laid Off! YAYYYY!!!!!

Finally received my 60 day non-working notice from Wells Fargo update after a Business Update meeting in Microsoft Teams. Super excited to be moving on! Glad I stuck around in Fraud (continued working remotely) after the Relocation Strategy email from corporate in February 2024 warning of these layoffs in the future. Delay after delay in DTFR, disorganized upper managers pushing out the date further and further. Prevent AI to date was a flop (but who cares anyways). Today I am happy to announce, I am done with Wells Fargo officially. What a ride it has been! Time to collect my hard earn money while I go on vacation and sip a Colada! Cheers!!!!!!!!!

Is Cigna planning to sell the Dental business?

In the past 6 months many people have been laid off, including some of our best leaders. We’re seriously understaffed now. Also, there is NO investment in this business and our IT portfolio has been cut to the bone. I never hear Sean C. even talk about Dental and he doesn’t seem to meet with Dental team members. I’m not even sure who’s really in charge now. There are no signs of real leadership anymore and the communication is terrible.

This used to be a great, highly profitable business with great employees. But it’s a pathetic shell of that now. This all makes me wonder if it is being stripped down in preparation for being sold, like IFP, Medicare and (soon) EviCore. Am I missing something?

Disney Cuts Hundreds Amid Studio Restructuring

Disney has announced significant job reductions impacting several hundred employees across various divisions. Pixar Animation Studios experienced a substantial number of these layoffs, despite recent box office success. Cuts also affected ESPN, Disney Entertainment Television, and National Geographic. This move follows earlier workforce reductions in April aimed at streamlining operations. The company is adapting its workforce to meet evolving industry demands.

They laid off the whole Portfolio team and replaced it with... nobody

No kidding. These people laid off everyone in Portfolio then pushed their work to teams that have never heard of the product before. Literal people that support things like SiteScope now working Portfolio products with zero training on them. Just two people from my team took like 20 cases. We've been told we can just approve overtime for these cases but im not sure if even that is possible. Worst run company I have ever worked in, it was literally better when I worked at an outsourcing company.

Sirius lays off 12 from the Howard Stern show.

Having worked there for the past 10 years I was shocked to come in and find this out. It feels like familiar faces have been wiped from the office like trying to get an old apple product fixed in the apple store. I heard that the NDAs were brutal? Anyone have any news from those laid off?

Worth $7M no Liabilities

I have spent 30 years at Intel and have accumulated about $7M with no liabilities. I am early 50's. I guess my issue is I don't feel $7M is enough to retire. However, the RTO has removed my joy and I keep feeling like "why do I put up with this". I feel like I am doing a great job, but otherwise no longer have ambition for more promotions.

For awhile I was looking for other jobs, but now that the stock is up, I have another $1M if I just stay 2 more years. Do most of you feel the same way?

ORCL collapsing. At this rate, Larry will be bankrupted sooner

Larry made a bad bet on AI and will cost him his island and fortune.. His age clearly shows in his lack of judgment to put all eggs into one AI basket and will now be the poster child of the AI collapse. Laying off employees that were keeping the company afloat to adapt an unproven and premature AI approach that costs too much to run is a recipe for disaster. Oracle is now a sinking ship drowning in debt. It won’t be long before it becomes a $5 stock

New tactic for laying off employees

So there is a new tactic that everyone should know about. Since performance management was released, managers have been in touch with HR to understand how they can give more money to their reports that are their friends or family. And the only solution from HR is this -> employees that are seen as critical to business needs and have a legal offer letter from another company will get a salary hike above the normal SAP limitations to match their offer.

So basically, if you have a friend who has a company, ask them to create an AI-related job for you and make you and offer - it has to be a written offer and cannot be just an email or verbal confirmation. And then your managers starts the process by creating an HR ticket and getting an exception for you and increasing your salary.

But the caveat is this - HR has been asked to reject as many of these as possible.

For a handful of roles where a manager is well connected within SAP, they will get HR to approve this and give 10% or more salary hikes. For almost all other roles, they will decline and then HR will flag that you are not committed to working at SAP and find ways to get rid of your role.

So if your area executive or T5 manager of managers or your T4/T5 manager is asking you to find a good role and get an offer and use it to increase your salary, DO NOT DO THAT. A lot of area executives are peddling this as an idea to work around performance management limitations. It is a farce.

This only works if that manager has already made a deal with HR. Otherwise you will not get an increased salary but be asked to join that other job. HR is doing this to easily identify people who can be laid off without a severance. They are also using sick leave and AI usage data to decide who should be put on a performance improvement plan and laid off subsequently.

Be careful of the sneaky HR and area executives and managers.

Warsaw R&D Layoffs

At the meeting I was told my contract wont be extended and each of new-hires got the same message. So yeah, the Dell aka circus itself. Hire bunch of ppl in last half a year without actual strategy and now they are going to shut the place

Comdex Score

NYC retiree transplanted to Boca. Looking to buy a fixed annuity. Looked around and noticed NY Life & NW Mutual. The annuity store had their Comdex score as really high up. I looked up Mutual of America's Comdex score and it ranks like at 200 & the score dropped from 57 to 55. NY Life was in the high 90's. What is a Comdex score & why is my former company so low. What happened & is this due to the layoffs ?

Avoid Future Layoffs

When a corporation keeps missing the mark, the groups responsible for independent challenge should not escape scrutiny. Their job is not to protect relationships, preserve invitations, or stay in the good graces of senior executives. Their job is to raise uncomfortable truths.

If an oversight organization has become known more for executive access and polished diplomacy than for confronting weak results, it may no longer be serving a useful purpose. At that point, reducing or rebuilding the function is a legitimate business decision.

Responsibility starts with the person leading it and continues through the executives who report directly to them. They set the tone, chose what to challenge, and decided how forcefully to communicate the company’s failures. If that leadership structure prioritized proximity to power over accountability, it should be replaced—not rewarded with continued headcount and influence.

important

Dan promised Wall Street ai-cs tech stack by November. That means more layoffs are coming to reach the $5b .. I expect more leadership departures to be announced soon since last week’s cuts don’t add up to the $500m Verizon wrote off in the sec filing for severances and real estate. Brace for impact.

lkq lay off today seems like they are firing mainly developers due to cost reductions / the on going climate and moving developers to India. eve

seems like they are firing mainly developers due to cost reductions / the on going climate and moving developers to India. everyone's benefits were terminated and at midnight and were given the a standard bare bones severance.

True Layoffs?

I see exhaustive number of complaints however I do not see anything factual where somebody was truly laid off as a result of RTO or anything else because it’s all vague and not specific. I think the intent of the site has lost its path. Instead of making a comment as my teammate was laid off maybe because they weren’t performing but be more specific as I have yet to see somebody be laid off in two years
