The new normal will be...

As a PL I have to say from Director to front line we are all in the same boat. If you accept the VSP you may or may not get it. If you dont you will either be retained as a business need or next round of non Vsp layoffs with severance benefits but not on the same level as VSP offer. Business need based on contractual expectations so take that into account in your own analysis. Plan accordingly and know that Corp will do what is right for the bottom line and not you but that is business. Give yourself some grace as well as your PL as we all navigate our individual decision (unless they have been a true micromanager). Also be kind, there are some arguments on this forum and there is no reason for that. Remember as Yoda says "fear is the pathway to the darkness"

Read between the lines: Unable to locate a severance policy for the peasants, eyy??

Read between the lines, my love. The following is from a LinkedIn post:

Take the severance.
Take the buyout.
Take the "early exit" package.
Take the separation package.
Take the termination package.
When your employer starts offering them, pay attention.
Because these programs are rarely about generosity.
They're usually the corporate version of smoke in the kitchen.
A re-org is coming.
A sale is coming.
An acquisition is coming.
Layoffs are coming.
Or somebody in a conference room has decided payroll needs to lose a little weight.
Earlier this year, I had a client turn down an early retirement package because he loved his job and thought the company loved him back.
"There's no way they're going to let me go."
They did.
Four months later.

The package he turned down included
1 full year of severance
6 months of COBRA
50% of his expected annual bonus

What did he get when the layoff finally came?
6 weeks of pay.
No bonus.
No extra health coverage.

That's a brutal difference.
I know people don't want to believe the company they've given years to might be setting the stage to cut them loose.
But loyalty does not protect you. Ever.
If a company starts offering buyouts, early retirement packages, or voluntary separation deals, do not just focus on whether you want to leave.
Ask yourself why they want people to leave now.
Because not taking the offer can be like assuming the gift horse isn't about to turn around and kick you square in the a-s.

Who is safe

So there has been employees hired less than a year ago, how do they size up to those who have been here a lot longer? Based on certain comments here seems like there is quite a bit of individuals who didn’t get the VSP. So I’m like what does that mean for them?

Customers Not Renewing

I don't know whether my team will be cut in June, October, or sometime in between. We've lost so many customers who chose not to renew their contracts for our products. A lot of that seems tied to the fallout after the CHC attack, but honestly many customers were already unhappy with the level of service as more operations shifted offshore.

For those of you who have already moved on, are there any large healthcare organizations you'd recommend looking into?

How

Do they justify sending 1000 Advisors to Nashville along with Regional Support Clowns, “National” sales people and Market Leaders who can’t do their job? Yet they are letting people go to save money. That Nashville soirée cost at least $5-$10 million.

REPOSTING -- Oracle Unbreakable Security!! Microsoft walked away from leasing Oracle data center over security concerns!!

Sorry for the repost. Oracle brags about being a "security" company. They just laid off some of the best security experts in the industry. Oracle Unbreakable Security!!

Microsoft walked away from leasing Oracle data center over security concerns!!
https://www.businessinsider.com/microsoft-was-in-talks-to-lease-oracle-compute-capacity-2026-6?op=1

Microsoft was recently in talks with Oracle about leasing the company's cloud infrastructure, but the deal fell through due to security and compliance concerns, according to people familiar with the matter.

One of the people said that the deal could have been worth more than $3 billion.

The failed talks highlight a growing reality of the AI bo-m: even the world's largest technology companies are running short on computing power. As demand for AI services soars, cloud providers like Microsoft are increasingly competing not just for customers but for the infrastructure and capacity needed to run their own products.

That scramble is driving an unusual wave of partnerships, capacity-sharing agreements, and multibillion-dollar infrastructure deals as companies race to secure enough computing resources to support the next generation of AI.

Microsoft recently projected that its capital expenditures for the 2026 calendar year will reach $190 billion, largely to expand data center capacity. The company has already turned to Amazon to add capacity for its GitHub code development business to address recent outages.

Microsoft is seeking a deal or deals with other cloud providers to prioritize its own Azure cloud computing resources on customers, the people said. "We are shopping for capacity everywhere," one of the people said.

The plan was to move some Microsoft workloads to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, but Oracle's public cloud did not have the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP), a standardized security framework that ensures cloud services are secure enough to handle U.S. government data. Oracle was not willing to add this framework, one of the people said.

5 stages of grief

Denial. Anger. Bargaining. Depression. Acceptance.
I have gone through all of them.
At this point, I am going to sit back, get myself some popcorn, and watch this sh-t show go down.
Even if I am no longer with Centene in the next several months, I will continue to follow this saga, simply for learning and entertainment purposes.

Paramount Skydance Merger Threatens LA Entertainment Jobs

Los Angeles County released a report on the Paramount Skydance-Warner Bros. Discovery merger. The report estimates 2,495 local positions could be affected. This figure identifies roles exposed to consolidation, not a layoff forecast. The combined company would carry significant debt and seek billions in savings. LA County is developing a workforce action plan for these workers.

Career advice for someone nearing 50

I'm approaching 50 and would like to work another 15 years before retiring.

Given the current environment, I'm concerned that if I were laid off in my 50s, finding a comparable role could take much longer than it would today.

Would you recommend starting a job search now while I'm still employed, or staying put and only looking if a layoff actually happens?

Vine Hospitality, a Bay Area restaurant group, is closing all its eateries. This sudden shutdown affects seven locations across the region. CSU Faculty Union Supports Bill to Limit AI Job Impact

The California Faculty Association contests the California State University system's use of artificial intelligence. The union aims to protect faculty jobs from being replaced by generative AI tools. They are backing legislation that would prevent CSU from replacing faculty with AI. This bill is advancing through the Legislature and has garnered no opposition. The union also filed an unfair labor practice charge over CSU's AI purchasing.

If Your Position Is Not Business Critical...

if your position is not business critical, the business has no reason to reject your VSP application. business critical positions have already been identified.

why did everyone get the VSP? simple... to reduce the risk of discrimination claims.

the only way your VSP application is getting denied is if the elimination of your position will increase risk for the business or if too many people on your team applied. it will not get denied because your PL wants to keep you here (those words came from my PL). if the work can be redistributed to your team, it will be.

someone on my team applied for the VSP and the discussion of how their work is going to be redistributed has already been had. those of us who are staying will have to prepare for things to get a lot worse before they get better.

USBank India, layoff in USBank in USA

So Lending Operations for USBank USA is moving to USBank India.
part of many layoff in the future as USBank India has capacity for 40,000 employees.

Also of note was the reason why we are now USBank India is because we are global corporation and we work with people-le across the world

So how does this fit in with RTO and collaboration with co workers in office if everyone is in India and sleeping while we are working?

Gen Z Faces Post-Layoff Workplace Challenges

Layoffs create significant challenges for remaining Gen Z employees. Many lack the experience and training for new post-layoff responsibilities. This leads to costly mistakes and high rates of considering leaving. Organizations must implement re-onboarding and interactive learning strategies. Peer learning and feedback also help Gen Z adapt and thrive.

Automotive and Transport Sectors See Major Layoffs

Automotive and transport sectors saw significant workforce reductions in 2026. Weak demand, corporate restructuring, and AI integration caused these cuts. UPS eliminated 30,000 positions due to an AI-driven transformation. Volkswagen Group cut 50,000 employees in two separate rounds. Numerous other companies also reduced staff to manage operational costs.

Post merger sale?

How long do yall think before anadarko and Marcellus basins both get sold after the merger? Kimmeridge and Toms Capital are both very vocal on Devon leaving these assets behind, and Kimmeridge was supposedly a big factor on forcing Coterra into changes that led to the merger. Marcellus already has an 8 billion dollar offer on the table. Will this be Devon’s way of reducing the workforce and gaining capital back?

Former V Teamer here, feel very sorry for you all

I still keep in touch with former co workers in addition to keeping up with postings on this site. I am so glad to no longer be in the firestorm that is being a VZ employee. This was a once great company and I am very grateful for all the skills I acquired during my tenure. That has allowed me to become very successful, but this AI takeover is very real and it seems to be impacting a few key industries the hardest, telecom being one of those. Regardless if you decide to hold off for severance, weather the storm, or depart on your own terms just remember, YOU GOT THIS!

Leidos layoffs in corporate coming in waves starting 6/24

Multiple layoffs expected. Last-minute invite to a "meeting" which is actually just a pre-recorded video letting you know your "role is being eliminated" AKA we're firing you and we didn't even have the decency to do it on an actual live call. The video invite list was masked but I know my entire team was let go, and none of us could mute/unmute ourselves or turn on our cameras to see each other. My team received zero warning about this. My manager said he was completely blindsided.

New CFO | We are F’d

Have you guys looked at his history past where he’s worked? Do a quick ChatGPT/Gemini search on his roles at his previous corps. People talking about PE in the other thread. No need. This guy will do the same they’d do, without selling out. His specialty is corporate restructuring and cost efficiency. Get ready everyone. They didn’t bring in an outsider for nothing. I bet you MF was unwilling to do what EH and the board wants. I think they see that EH approval rating is declining, so bring in someone else to be the bad guy. Homeboy doesn’t care. He’s probably on his way out of his career.

S&P Global Reports Significant US Factory Layoffs

S&P Global reported on US manufacturing layoffs. Layoffs in June reached levels not seen since 2009. This excludes the initial COVID-19 outbreak in 2020. Concerns over global demand and rising costs drove these job cuts. Manufacturing PMI growth was mainly due to inventory replenishment.
