We need legislation that will force companies to pay money into unemployment benefits, equal to their profits if they choose to move the workforce offshore, or replace with AI. Why should 93% of America suffer so the 7% of stockholders can benefit?... — read more
It Looks Like There Were Layoffs Today
Tell us more about which areas and how many.
401 k
How long do you need to be at the company to be vested, partially or totally for your 401(k)?
I'm hoping to get laid off
Yes, even with this economy and the dismal job market. That's how unbearable this place has become for me.
What is the final timeline if I get notified?
If I get picked for layoff will I be on the books/expected to work for 2 more weeks after notification? If so I assume I can use my PTO to the bitter end until my last day.
Ahead of OI layoffs
A lot of what OI does is facilitate the functioning of other divisions. I'm not in OI, but OI's work and tech has enabled a lot of the 40-90% headcount cuts to other areas (not that those reductions were always well advised). A lot of the applied... — read more

Layoffs still ongoing ?
So the major cuts happen on 4/30, and this week is nothing much?
Is that certain? I'd ki-l for two weeks without this stress.
Anyone being asked to track their time exempt employee?
Today my manager held a my 1:1 and told me he needs to me to start tracking my “activities” with how much time each takes. He claims upper leadership is wanting to get a better idea of the teams activities. We have about 8 people on our team. Anyone... — read more
4/16 or 4/30
Is it one or the other or both? And if you have any details please share at least a little bit
I just hope they stop with layoffs
That's it, that's the whole post
The only reason I hate Sundays is this job
They've got us stressed out constantly. No breaks, no rest, no relief. This company has completely taken over our lives.
New Optum Fl thoughts or insoght?
We are all curious to know if financially is it worth staying on board especially in light of bonuses being eliminated, cut in 401k, poor to no merit increases? Do you really believe this will improve? Any real insight? Please share!!!
Hierarchy of Needs
I just read Mind over Grind by Guy Winch… he tries to explain whats happening in our heads when laid off- goes over Maslow’s hierarchy of needs and that losing our job costs us security, social structure, status, accomplishment, as well as a sense... — read more
There has to be an end date
We can't go on like this forever. There has to be an end to layoffs. Are we supposed to stress over potentially losing our jobs for the rest of our working days?
Housecalls APCs
Anyone under a ton of micromanaging /scrutiny for low completion efficiencies beyond your control?
Cancelled one on ones
My manager cancelled our last two one on ones with no reason. Today I realized my manager cancelled the entire series. With the impending layoffs, should I be concerned I’m on the list?
Leaving changes people for the better
A former coworker was laid off last year. I saw a post from him recently. He looks like a different person. Relaxed, smiling, actually happy. I'm not jealous exactly. Just aware that leaving changed something for him. I'm glad he got out.
It's Thursday ... Any areas getting hit today?
Those "quick business update" meets should be either out by now or coming out soon.
Housecalls meeting
Does everyone else have a mandatory housecalls town hall tomorrow?
Question
Do the people who come here to a-s kiss Optum even get compensated for all of the puckering or do they just do it for free?
Stock up $26 on the news. The lesson here...
Layoffs and all the nonsense narratives that are spewed on this site have NOTHING to do with stock price. It's all about Medicare reimbursements, gov regulations and to a very small degree public sentiment. A huge amount of our stock is owned by... — read more
Schedule/Availability
Any other housecall APCs notice they don't have a schedule in practitioner portal after May? Seems odd, and wasn't that way last year or years prior I would not be mad at being laid off, as I've been looking hard since beginning of this year for a... — read more

Increase in vto? Should we be worried?
Has anyone else noticed the recent increase in VTO offerings across Medicare/Medicaid member services? Trying to better understand if this is just volume-related or part of a larger shift. If anyone has any general insight or perspective, it would... — read more
Genuinely curious. Is anyone actually using AI agents in their day-to-day work?
No need to give specifics, but I am just curious about everyone's experience with AI outside of conversational chat, so I'm not talking about prompting Copilot to help with summarizing stuff, helping debug a coding problem, or writing user stories... — read more
Laid off pregnant and I hate this company
I’m due with my baby in a month and I cannot help but feel so bitter. I was laid off back in February and have felt nothing but stress since. Genuinely hate myself for ever considering joining this company.
Is there any truth to this?
It's coming by 15th. Affects UHC/Optum Tech. They have already hired a large number of people in India and now laying off US employees. @at+1knfpa49z
Bassett
I just looked up my information in teams. My business address is now listed as “Bassett”. There is no town near me with this name or that has a UHC building. Does anyone know what this means? I am a remote worker currently. Thanks in advance.
April lay offs
Does anyone have concrete intel on any April layoffs?
One of the biggest casualties of working here is self-confidence
Constant pressure, endless questioning, no acknowledgment or reward, and then you're dismissed without a word. Eventually you start doubting everything - your skills, your capacity, your value. And yet, the people I've worked with here have been... — read more
Cost of living gap
The pay increases lately don’t come even close to match how expensive everything else has become. Think about it, we're effectively getting pay cuts instead of pay raises when you calculate in the increase in cost of living.
If you are fired after a PIP, do you get anything?
Any kind of severance or at least unemployment?
Many of us OGs are sitting on hundreds of hours of PTO because of engineering deadlines and previous cuts.
Now you want to bleed us further with more cuts? That is our reward for literally working evenings and weekends for months?
