What I won't miss
I'm leaving, and I can tell you right away I won't miss the endless approvals, the ancient systems that break daily, or watching my coworkers lose their minds. I was hired to build new things and spent four years keeping old junk running. This place broke me.
The wrong target
Every round of cuts here goes after the people who keep things running. The ones who know the systems, who have the relationships, who fix problems before anyone notices them. The dead weight somehow always survives. They are not cutting fat. They are cutting muscle.
Speed is a myth
Louis and the whole EC and the CMO bang on and on about speed yet they work at a snail pace themselves. Examples (1) sales people in America were supposed to be on the 365 crm system in April (originally it was supposed to be January) and now it is June (2) even the employee workforce scheme VRIF. Names to be put in on Thursday but they don’t make a decision until mid-May. Why can’t they decide by end April - it is not that difficult to say yes or no to individuals in 10 days. Slimy snails the lot of them.
We're living through systemic failures without even realizing it
Teams have been gutted, some repeatedly, by layoffs and reorgs that solve nothing. Yes, talent is expensive. But when you're too lazy to cut strategically and just go for the simplest savings, you shed the people you actually need. Meanwhile, the endless turmoil ki-ls morale, ki-ls commitment, and ki-ls any chance of long-term planning. Chaos like that always turns out to be far more expensive in the end.
New Aruba ordering system
Does anybody know to make the new Aruba part ordering setup work ?
People tell me they order parts and some of them never arrive.
Non stock parts don't go through. Those prices are too much on Aruba, 5 gal. paint is $144, at big box store it's $99. 12v battery is $75 at discount store, it's $145 on Aruba.
UP not saving any money with new system.
Paycheck
I'm hearing a nasty rumor that our paychecks may not come on April 15th as a result of issues in the system migrations. They're throwing any available resources at it but much like the W2 issues this is quickly becoming a trend. This must be what winning looks like
My Fear is losing my job over THEIR system issues
It's every day it is something! They are fully aware it needs to be fixed. It effects our Metrics when we lose calls or can't run a wizard due to the pink banner we all get!
Insurance verification vendor website down
Today is the last day to submit insurance verification and they tell me they’re doing a system update. Even WF vendors can’t get it together
Constructive Discharge
Fidelity has now turned to a systematic process to create a hostile or intolerable work environment that has forced many long term tenured employees to quit or resign. While there have always been the dinosaurs that hung on for purely the comfort of a paycheck, we have now pushed into a full blow game plan of pushing out the knowledgeable tenured employees that care about doing a great job for a once great company. Gone are the days of Standards or Care as they have been replaced by a systematic performance management system that has been put into place to do cut costs at any expense. Clients now can either pay Fidelity to manage their money, buy annuity offerings, get farmed out to WAS advisors or find a new home for their assets. Fidelity has now become just another Southwest Airlines, another choice for customers to make based on cost-benefit and convenience. A business decision for all of us to absorb and then make a decision for what's best for us as the days of being Fidelity's most valued assets as an employee are over. Best wishes and good luck to all!

Ottawa job cuts: Layoff letters starting to ‘trickle out’ across system
In Budget 2025, the government outlined plans to eliminate thousands of jobs over the next few years. Ottawa plans to eliminate roughly 40,000 federal positions by 2028-29 as part of broader fiscal restructuring.

System Outage today?
What was the deal today with that firm wide system outage between 12-1:00? Comms screens, Outlook, Zoom, Surpas all went down and rumors were saying cyber attack. It was down for over 45 minutes in my area. Not one email was sent out by the powers that be to keep us in the loop of what was broken and what ETA was. Very odd and not normal. Not sure if anyone else heard anything?
SLOW!!
OMG- I’m about to go insane. Why is our system so slow?! This is ridiculously unproductive. What is wrong with her outlook? Why does it take 13 years to set up/open/send an invite? This has been going on for years and it’s so unacceptable at this point. I’m not understanding why the company can’t get this fixed.
GNAL
What the he-l is going on with GNAL?? Have a ton of people quit or been laid off or is this just due to the new system? It’s been terrible for the last 2 months and we have no connection with our teams to know what’s really happening. Are people being laid off?
ERP - anyone still on the fence?
Any more intel on coming RIFs or numbers that have accepted ERP?
